I just finished loading the new 10/28/25 Beta software on the 54PRO. Here is the first clip. It's going to be fun seeing the changes in the software tonight. My initial settings for day: H.264.H @ 15fps, 12,288 bit rate, AAC, 64,000 sampling rate. Manual Mode, Shutter 0-3, Gain 0-20, Iris 35, Exp. Comp 50, 3D NR=26, 2D NR=25, brightness 50, contrast 53, saturation 50, sharpness 22, gamma 50.

I'm guessing you blurred out the street name and license plates(?) ... but does that red fence have vertical slats all the way around, because it looks a bit mushy.
Also, looks a bit overexposed in spots (that camper is pretty solid white) ... so maybe try setting HLC=1 (ONE (PING) ONLY) as that might make a difference for 'ya.

All good points. These are just settings to start with. Since the cars zoom down this street about 35-40mph, I am more interested in how the camera sees at night, but I will change a few things to try to make the daytime picture better. Eventually this camera will be placed as an overview for my dogs' play yard in the back. With the number of cars and people that go up and down this street each day, I think it will be a good location to test it to its limits, especially using Andy's new firmware.

If a normal person purchases one of these new Dahua cameras and comes to this website to figure out what to do, and start reading some of these posts, they'll soon quit reading past two or three pages, return the cameras to wherever they came from, and post a bad review. These topics are just one long sentence with no commas, paragraphs, or chapters, and sure as hell no end.

great position and plenty moving targets, I am very intrigued to see your thoughts, especially compared to your other cameras. You appear to have some ambient from street lights so the 54Pro should give some reasonable results.

That reminds me... T54PRO-ZE with a DI10 illuminator in the upper left (out of frame) and a visible light 10 watt LED at the far corner that kicks on right as it comes into view. Not enough to trigger the color switch though (?) even at the most sensitive setting.

That looks great! I have been struggling all night to force the T54PRO-ZE into color. It just won't do it, yet my three Color 4K-X cameras, Color4K-T, and ColorT180 have no problem at all just with the streetlight and no other added illumination at that placement. I have noticed some interesting things with this 10/28 beta firmware I installed today however. When sharpness is decreased, it's sort of like the camera is adding AI to the scene. It cleans up the noise but adds something that looks artificial. There are also small pools of noise around the image that change with settings. I'm going to let it run on the current settings all night and then evaluate it in the morning. The AI detection is much improved though, so that is a plus. Tomorrow a IPC-B54PRO-Z4E is scheduled to be delivered, so it will be interesting to see how it compares to this camera and the IPC-B54IR-Z4E S3 that it will be replacing.`That reminds me... You have the day/night switch toggled to Auto? Sensitivity 1?
Or you can just force it with adding the “warning light” to an IVS rule, OR use Smart Illumination in Auto. Both will force the white LEDs to kick on and switch to color …

You hit the nail right on the head here on both counts. I would add that the magic needs to be dialled down and let the sensor perform in RAW format so to speak. Or at least allow us tweakers full manual without Ai/WDR/HDR/Magic assist.

Been focusing so far on the day settings and have seen a lot of improvement, in particular cranking the sharpness way down. See the attached flicker (the bird, not the pixel) center-right.
So I decided to push my FW0827 camera to 1022 (would have gone directly to 1028 since that is running great ... but this way I can compare those two) ... and took a snapshot just before/after the upgrade ... so while the sun moved a bit, that's about as close of a direct comparison as I can do.

That is looking pretty good to me, I saw your night video and thought the shutter could be a bit faster, I am finding that 0-2ms or even less works best for these, depending on how sensitive you are to having totally frozen motion. Sharpness I would say drop to below 25 if you can, mine is below 10 and in fact 0 on one 54Pro. Depending on how dark this cam gets at sunrise/sunset then I would also drop NR down below 15, mine is less than 10. Gain looks good, lower the better during daylight, similarly at night if you can manage it. Dropping the NR should reveal even more detail and will help with freezing motion. Great job though, similarly your night IR image looked good. Have you tried or are you planning to run colour at night or sticking with IR? look like you do have additional ambient on the property.
I am on 1028 with one of mine now and not noticing much yet, I cannot tell much if any difference between the two above, other than color saturation/shift on the driveway?

I'm going to stick with IR. The only white light is the motion sensor LED fixture. But I will try bigredfish's suggestions to get it to kick over to color when needed/possible.
