Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Yes the cracks are visible with 0 sharpening but like you say they pop right out once sharpening is turned up! Really not liking the way this camera deals with setting changes, processing will still happen almost regardless of settings input. For us manual guys who like to tune this is less than ideal, I also suspect it could well be degrading the overall image, not impossible.

I will be very keen to see how the S3 looks next to this 54Pro ZE :thumb:

Darker but with a cleaner image

So this morning, we have an image taken from a T54PRO-ZE using some brand-spanking new 1028 Firmware that @EMPIRETECANDY just sent me - thanks!

The upgrade was seamless (had to do by file rather than by folder ... but just did one at a time and it reboots after each) and below are the version number changes (BOLDED) from Maintenance Center->System Info->Device Info.

I don't see any difference at first glance (download of .dav files is still about 1.3MBYTES/sec even though the Firmware loaded at about 11 MBYTES/sec) but I'll be futzing around with it. The only "issue" is that with the "Skull Brothers" now in the picture, the auto-focus tends to snap to them (which is to be expected!) but simple enough to use Area Focus. Settings are 5msec shutter, 100 iris, 0 gain, 0 NR, everything else "default" but Sharpness push from 50 to 75.

I did this on my "lower" camera - the "upper" T54 is still running 0827 ... but I'm thinking I might push that to 1022 so I can more easily see if 1028 changes anything.

@EMPIRETECANDY : I didn't see any change/release notes - anything you can share that we should look for with this latest release?

Would a bright external IR illuminator increase the settings possibilities of the 54PRO? Just curious. I know this is not the fix we are after here.

I believe so. It does have an obvious benefit for my AS fixed lens. I have two cameras out back that shine added IR into the yard and dock and the AS responds well to the added IR. basically extends my IR range and allows me to run a 0-3 - 0-4 ms exposure without much noise or blur

Looks like some serious processing going on with that image, maybe due to the challenging sunlight conditions? getting a HDR vibe again!

Should I set the sharpness to 0-10 during the day and night, or only at night?

I would go in that range day and night honestly, night is more likely to be beneficial as reduces processing and should be cleaner. Based on your samples you need some sharpening in the day regardless, maybe just 5-10 is enough, would need to trial that.

Yes indeed, where I have IR overlap with my 54Pro, similarly, LED overlap with the second one, it helps quite a bit, although once below 0-2ms shutter serious light is required to benefit the image, sadly.

Yea, I think it looks a bit HDR'ish because there's a LOT of dynamic range ... plus as I'm sure you know from photography @CamCrazy, sharpness is really tricky on foliage because it can "overprocess it"

Image below is with the sharpness turned down from 75 to the (default) 50.

I asked a while back from upgrading from the 0827FW to 1022FW that there was a new item under Maintenance Center->System Info->Device Info called "Cloud Service Version"

After applying the 1028FW, I went "looking around" at the various menu's and found out what this changed. Specifically under Network->Platform Settings, P2P is now "Dolynk Cloud" - read more at that link that says "The brand new DoLynk Care Cloud Platform offers a confluent, cloud-based service system that allows you to manage on-site devices and enjoy a full range of services" - sounds like mostly targeted at installers, but I defer to those forum members who know much more than me.

Here's the difference in the menu settings.

Driveway looks to have 'pitting' or small pieces missing in this image, is that representative of how it looks, not seen this effect previously in this image, guessing the WDR/HDR...

Yep DoLynk Cloud is their new cloud system. Big help to installers... Not yet sure it is for consumers.?
Also lays groundwork for a model for subscriptions

Yes, the "dimpling" in the driveway is REAL ... ditto the "speckling" in the road. This is an area where the image processing of the T54PRO seems to "smear" it more than the 5442-S3 ... BUT ... I really need to do a comparison with the latest T54 firmware ... probably in a couple of weeks when I remount that.

I've also noticed that particular "feature" is sensitive to light and time-of-day ... which makes sense, since the lower sun angle will provide more contrast versus overhead flat light. So it's probably on the "cusp" of what the image processing pipeline is "figuring" out.

Here's a GIF (with attached PNG's direct from the camera) showing the 0827 versus 1028 firmware.

Not sure it's a very good comparison, especially with the "Skull Brothers" there ... but since they are so close to the camera's, the vertical offset is magnified! ;-)

I really like the how the 1028 (and 1022) firmware renders the colors - histogram shows the reduction in the blue channel. It also doesn't smear the "speckling" in the street as much.

Angle is clearer to see now with the skulls! the digital look of these cameras I dislike, hence why I try to disable all processing, which we know seems impossible at this point. Like you say the processing side is not there just yet.

Ah, I wondered about the lighting in the background. Thanks. I'm running the DI10 illuminator. I may try a larger one but I'll wait until the firmware improvements are a bit more settled.

Good eye.
I'll try and get a night shot tonight with the other two cams IR turned off.
Remember it kinda sits in a hole so the width of the IR beam is greatly restricted.
