Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Disable AcuPick.. camera will reboot. then in IVS -> Global settings enable Large Scale AI Models..

recheck how IVS works in this mode... and describe here is there any difference...

First day of testing the AS 3.6mm with Large Scale AI Models enabled, in my most difficult scene/placement

So far very happy with critter detection (0731 FW)

I have the 54PRO-AS 3.6mm hung. Limited testing yet. Rainy yucky overcast weather

Couple of things I'm seeing.
(currently running 0-3 Exp daytime with 25 NR, 0-5 nighttime with 30 NR)

  • Daytime Color is indeed softer than the 5442 but I could probably live with it as I tweek settings and improve sharpness.
  • Nighttime B&W/IR is superior to the 5442 which I expected from my experience with the 3449 PRO. Better IR dispersion and overall brighter. I still think the 5442 is a slightly better quality image though
  • I'm having trouble now with IVS ( @tigerwillow1 ). Nighttime it did very well on animals. Daytime I'm having to dial it way back on sensitivity as it thinks my foot stool is a critter.
  • The transition to color when Smart Illumination kicks in is..... different. I prefer how the 3449 PRO handles it
  • Illumination Overexposure Remover is way too severe. I've turned it off. Here again the 3449 PRO does this very well and correctly with a more gradual and less severe cutting of Gain. The 54PRO severely overcompensates and has a ON/OFF effect creating a lot of "dancing pixels" when off. They really need a slider sensitivity control for this as opposed to On/Off
  • My biggest problem right now is that the IVS rules are not synching with the NVR no matter what I do. Active schedule time and Recording not working right. Camera shows the tripping of the rule, Record is set, but not being recorded (as a separate clip with hash mark) on the NVR... grrrrrrr

Example of the softness. Focus on Mrs bigredfish's hair (I made sure to snap both when she was perfectly still and have repeated similar comparisons)
Also see the "jaggies" on the furthest 3 boards of the deck on the 54PRO

A lot of work to do on night image and light transitions.

Thanks Steve. I had finally figured this out yesterday, and would have sooner but for how the UI behaves and how I make assumptions. On the UI, when I turned off the AccuPick switch, the IVS switch got grayed out, leading me to assume that AccuPick has to be on to use IVS. I finally got past that and downloaded the 8/27 firmware and am running the large models. As is so typical, animals have quit walking by the camera just when I'm trying to test it. On some days, it's almost like there's a portable zoo walking by. The 5442 with dumb IVS did capture one animal missed by the 54PRO, and I don't expect the PRO will ever trigger on a passing bird. This one blew undetected through 4 tripwire lines.

For the IVS issue, @bigredfish please update to their 0827 fw, there has some update on the IVS part, but later this month we will have another firmware for the AI smart part.

Thanks guys great help for the bugs and issues report for this model

Also we make some progress on these, hopefully we can add this part to the main fw for a fast release at early Nov. When i get the latest new fw about the pics i will report back and invite guys to test.

1) The clarity issue has been identified and resolved, get the complaint the soft pics day and night
2) The issue with WDR at dark areas is dark issue currently being optimized, with expected results this week.
3) The issue with a blue cast during the day and an orange cast at night is also being optimized.
4) The nighttime pulsing noise issue did not recur last week, so we set up an outdoor environment and continued to observe it today.

I got part of that Andy. Will try the new FW tomorrow

This was another IE browser issue with the NVR not synching with the camera due to not using IE mode. Fixed it.

aha, yes, Mrs Bigredfish hair show the soft very well. Better than the chart we use to test. ^^
@bigredfish the video you test for overexposure remover on and Off?

Yes that shows the Overexposure being very sensitive. Not sure what to make of it. 3449PRO doesnt do that?

Any chance this is related to my thread "Less sharpness in T54PRO-ZE (versus 5442-S3) possibly due to noise reduction being applied even if set to ZERO?"

It sounds like Dahua needs to ante up for an all-expense paid trip for Mrs. Bigredfish (and a companion) to visit China so she can help with camera testing! ;-)

Making progress. Haven't really put together a good test video yet but here's some messing around shots

0-5 exposure. (not quite fast enough yet. would like to get to 0-3)
DNR 30
Set Day/Night to Auto
Smart Illumination Auto - turned off the Overexposure comp as its a mess

My motion flood comes on while I'm 45ft out of scene at the corner of the house.
*Odd that even with Day/Night in Auto, it wont switch to color until Smart illum kicks in its onboard LED's. Thats something I'm not a fan of.

I'm also curious about #2 as I might be seeing something like this - hoping they provide some more details that you can share about exactly what the problem is and how it is fixed.

I'm also seeing a bit of an orange cast at night (running with very slow shutter & high gain) ... but I figured this is just White Balance as I have some 2700K lights.

3) The issue with a blue cast during the day and an orange cast at night is also being optimized.

I don't if this is related to the orange cast issue that is being optimized, but FWIW here's what I see.

I'm running with very slow shutter & high gain (don't ask!) with no added light and Auto WB ... and figured this was the camera making it's best guess as there is a variety of light sources in the scene. Note the house sconces (not visible, but lighting the driveway, albeit they aren't very bright) are 2700K.

Separate from that, I think there might be something goofy with the White Balance code, because if I go from "Auto WB" to "Natural" or "Outdoor", it STAYS as an orange cast. If I change it to "Street Lamp", the image CHANGES, removing most of the orange so it is more white.

BUT ... if I THEN switch to "Natural" or "Outdoor", it STAYS white ... UNTIL it is switched back to "Auto" ... and then it CHANGES to Orange.

So that's kinda weird!!!

Here's a GIF showing the the orange from AutoWB versus white from StreetLampWB.

2025_10_20_WB_Auto_versus_Street-Lamp.gif

I'm thinking AutoWB is too orange and StreatLampWB is too white ... but if blend the images 50-50 in Photoshop ... Goldilocks says it is just right! ;-)
