All jokes aside...kind of! it does look like this was let out the gate way too early, of course this is not unusual for many companies, but is kind of annoying when there are some notable and rather important areas which this appears to be lacking. I guess realistically it will take a few months to tune the firmware, in the meantime, not sure whether the gamble is worth it for those looking to jump in. On the one hand it covers a lot of bases with IR, LED. AI and two way audio, on the other hand the S3 and 4K-T exist along with some others which are more proven. Difficult one to call at the moment, I have been quite impressed with the low light capabilites, less so with the difficulty getting this thing to freeze motion. Also, this thing is a minefield of settings. This is not a bad thing of course, good to have options and full control, better that than lacking, just takes a bit to get your head around it. Also as @steve1225 has made clear, this entire processing system is quite unique, knock on effects unlike previous models by all accounts when settings get changed.

Color-4K is dead project.. too many problems which NEVER will be solved (can't be - law of optics).. lack of IR... not worth to buy for new installations..

If I were Andy, I'd consider to hide (or move somewhere down in the shop) of Color4K model / line in the store. Selling it to new users unaware of the issues and lack of IR, those chasing 4K and the largest possible sensor based on posts from 2022, could blow up in Andy's face one day. I will repeat one more time - this is very bad camera line for new installations and unaware users.

54IR-S3 is old project from 2022/2023.. it's now at the end of product cycle (no new features in firmware, only fixed).. Also don't have hybrid lights & AI-ISP video processing...
Yes it was very good camera with strong firmware support / stability. For some users (especially ANPR) very good solution even today.

54PRO / 58PRO is a new best flashy thing which Dahua released a few weeks ago.
Have all latest best HW solutions inside.. simply require a few months to stabilize firmware...

From what I know from internal Dahua presentations, they will add a few more features to it..
This line will be NEW MAIN best Dahua PRO solution for next 2-3 years..
And it will have firmware updates with NEW features for next 2 years..

Except there should be also new 74PRO/78PRO this year.. As for today, I don't have any confirmation what sensor size Dahua will use there..

On a lighter note, my new 4K-T cameras will be placed where they have backup 4000+ lumen floods, subjects will be within 6-8 metres and I am more than happy with sample videos I have seen, including these fine examples from @bigredfish

Looking forward to testing them out, large sensor potentially from Sony, what is not to like. My only concern with the 54Pro at this point is the sensor, hopefully this is a non issue and things can be resolved via firmware and no doubt model revisions in the next 2-3 years. Take it easy on the 4K's in the meantime, surely they can be run on 1/100 or 1/150 with on board lighting and floods for backup, tell me they can...:wow::thumb:

To my knowledge the 54pro firmware has no AI-ISP at the moment and it will be added later.

But have to be confirmed again by dahua, maybe was before 0731 and included in 0731

By any chance are the new motion-sensing porch lights directional? I would think that aiming them at the ceiling would give you a nice diffused light, similar to a photography umbrella.

The IPC-Color4K-T is an absolutely fantastic camera. I run the one I've got 24/7/365 in color and there are no changes to the settings day or night to anything! The only thing Dahau managed to do to screw things up is not come out with a varifocal version. But as we all know, Dahua doesn't improve some existing fantastic cameras. No, instead Dahua dumps twenty or thirty or whatever new cameras out and hope one damn camera is successful. :poop:

Well I didn't get around to IR testing this beast yet, had another night of colour tuning! It is growing on me already, could be a bit overwhelming for some but I like having those options. One thing is quite clear though, this is not uncommon, but running auto settings on this model will not yield best results, like I say, no IP cameras should be running in auto factory settings, well maybe some exist but I suspect it is rare. Once I realised for my use case the shutter needs to be literally almost as fast as it can run (0-1ms) then the freeze frame situation begins to shine more. The colour image at night with onboard LED's is acceptable with this shutter speed, for my purposes, 20 feet above target to ID vehicles and potentially rough ID on people. The image is noisy but that is fine, also assume open field situation with zero ambient, this will change slightly in the next week.

The beauty of this camera is 'options'! which I plan to test more later, ie when daylight fades I will set a period where the IR runs to bridge between daylight and colour LED mode, later in the evening I can set LED's to run. Similar pattern when daylight comes back, bridge to IR before the light becomes acceptable. The 'time plan settings' should work very well for this, great addition. I have dropped the gamma now and with the fast shutter and low NR have a very natural looking image, more like a 2MP starlight I suppose you could say, contrast is at 55 and sharpness 35, zoom is 706 which equates to around 30%. I believe zooming out has helped with the light levels, this is not surprising.

So another day testing and maybe later 4K-T and 32mm S3 bullet install, will see how the IR bridge works out later, shall also run an entire night of IR in the next few days. My testing will not be quick so stick with me, when I have expired most options then a full report/review I guess will get added.
