Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Does that camera have AFSA on the main image menu?

If so, I found on the 3449 it was helpful in Auto at night but ugly during the day- OFF

I know you told me that before, but I have found it to be helpful at night in IR mode. Definitely reduces noise. Possibly as you say manipulating exposure, but I run manual 0-5 shutter and don’t see it adversely effecting motion blur. Perhaps it plays other tricks as well and manual exposure limits it?

In daytime I found it to be a mess.

Though on the 54PRO it doesn’t sound like noise is the issue, the opposite from what we’re hearing. So it may not be beneficial. Worth testing

Have you tried cutting NR back more? As over soft as the camera is you may get away with 25

No AFSA that I can see, thought that was my lifeline for a minute :lmao: but with that said I am now on 0-3.5ms shutter and 40 gain with NR on 9 for both, although this is dark image, it is without ghosting, of course some noise but also pretty easy to ID vehicle and of course colour. Still not sure where best to go with smoothing, sticking around 40-60 I guess, sounds like should be 25-45 or similar for moving vehicles. Will experiment with gain a bit to brighten the image, balancing act does not quite come into it!

Yes indeed, as per @steve1225 and now your suggestions, I have been running sub 10 NR, in fact I had it off earlier, surprising if you tune the image with it off how little you need, NR 1 for both knocked any noise out when I was at that stage!

Side note, this camera is not so soft if you get the shutter nice and fast, in my case below 2ms!! also had sharpness below 35 so could probably tweak it up. Yes my 5442 bullet is sharper but maybe there is a chance hardware is not at fault here, wish I knew the answer to that right now :idk:

Per my comments in this thread, I believe that the T54PRO is applying some sort of NR even if it is set to zero.

it can be..

please remember we use / test a very new product with almost beta firmware, with a lot of new features (and new AI-ISP video processing pipe-line), which is not available in normal distribution by Dahua in countries (it will be in one/two months) and totally not tested by Dahua worldwide..

2024 generation of TIOC-PRO (34PRO) had AI-ISP video processing ENABLED in .7 firmware version - three months after Andy has started to sell it. Plus Dahua fixed many video processing problems (mostly around AI-ISP) in next 10 firmware versions over one year.

We are now at level .1 and .2 of firmware for 54PRO... looking at problem reports here on the forum, Dahua cut corners with this firmware to release it fast.

So yes - we need a few months and a few new firmware releases to have things corrected / calmed / finished.

PS. those AI-ISP enabled SOCs (chips), taken from mobile / sport cams world are totally new thing for both Dahua & HIK.. they must learn how to use this technology properly.. video pipeline is very different to what we had before..

I would try 2-4 shutter and 25 gain + 20-25 nr

I use 0-3 shutter on a lot of cameras during the day.

0-40 or 0-50 gain just to allow it to self regulate

And yes NR 25 or less as much as you can stand and not get noise

This is good in many ways, but also feels like I just paid to run around a hamster wheel  - might have to trade two of mine for S3 or 4K-T until the noise settles and they sharpen the firmware :wow::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

All jokes aside...kind of! it does look like this was let out the gate way too early, of course this is not unusual for many companies, but is kind of annoying when there are some notable and rather important areas which this appears to be lacking. I guess realistically it will take a few months to tune the firmware, in the meantime, not sure whether the gamble is worth it for those looking to jump in. On the one hand it covers a lot of bases with IR, LED. AI and two way audio, on the other hand the S3 and 4K-T exist along with some others which are more proven. Difficult one to call at the moment, I have been quite impressed with the low light capabilites, less so with the difficulty getting this thing to freeze motion. Also, this thing is a minefield of settings. This is not a bad thing of course, good to have options and full control, better that than lacking, just takes a bit to get your head around it. Also as @steve1225 has made clear, this entire processing system is quite unique, knock on effects unlike previous models by all accounts when settings get changed.
