Mini-Review EmpireTech IPC-Color4M-T

Future reference.
Use the direct machine GUI for initial setup of IP and login info, then disconnect and use the web GUI forever and never ever go back to the machine interface,

With too-new firmware on V1 hardware you've become a test pilot. Perhaps as bigred says it's not bricked in the sense of totally dead, but rather some things don't work right and maybe others do. I'm running V4.001.0000000.3, Build Date: 2020-05-19 on the V1 hardware. Perhaps that version is online somewhere and you could try going downward to it. You can't roll back indefinitely. The release notes for my version say:

This new baseline version is based on the version of Security Baseline 2.1, and it can be rolled back to the
versions after Security Baseline 1.4, but cannot be rolled back to a version prior to Security Baseline 1.4.

With even newer versions the restriction might be worse.

But isn't it odd that in the NVR GUI is still says the System Version is: 3.210.0002.2 and the Build Date is: 07-21-16?

So why is it acting weird if its still showing the same information?

Start a new thread please
Good advice and I promise this will be my last post here. Maybe you're still running a corrupted V3 in the NVR. If you have the firmware file for it you could try reloading that one. I tried to upload my early V4 firmware to the Resources section, but as with photos, it's broken.

I just wanted to update this thread and say how impressed I've been with the newer firmware's that include the xinghan large scale ai models. I was having so many issues with ivs giving false alerts which were being triggered by spiders, birds and foxes even after fine tuning my ivs zones and min size. I was also having issues where is would sometimes not detect a human in the ivs area or be extremely slow to detect a human unless the person was within a couple of meters distance from the camera.

I've now been running the official dahua firmware version 3.140.0000000.16.R Build Date:2025-06-20 on my 4 cameras for around 2 months and have not had a single ivs false alert, even from spiders. The human detection is faster and works much better from longer distances. Here is an example:

This now means I can reliably use the cameras ivs intrusion detection with my airshield house alarm. Having the main house alarm go off at 2am due to a spider is no fun. :)

In case anyone was not already aware, you can use your cameras to trigger the dahua airshield house alarm without needing a NVR. Also when I set my airshield house alarm it can also automatically activate the tioc features on the camera, warning audio, deterrent lights etc.

Thanks to steve1225 for making me aware of the large scale ai models, It's like having new cameras.

Cool.

What camera models are you running this 3.140.0000000.16.R Build Date:2025-06-20 on?

I will say I have very few if any problems with missing targets or false alerts with my 5442's my 3449 Pro or my 4KX/Ts and other modern cameras.
I do get some false alerts from the new Triple Lens overlooking the canal, but I dont have those set to wake me up.

34PRO (tioc-pro 3449)..

I don't have triple lens cam - but it's listed in Dahua materials as camera with Xinghan AI.

So it should have (on latest firmware) option to enable Large Scale AI Models in IVS -> Global config, you can try it....

Looks like I’m running older FW on the Triple. Downloading the latest Aug ‘25 from Dahua site now.

We’ll give it a try. Thx

After reading the Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO thread I decided to checkout how AI-ISP wizcolor functions in relation to smart illumination on the IPC-Color4M-T. What I've found is that if I use smart illumination with auto day/night to get it to switch from b&w to colour during motion it disables AI-ISP wizcolor. I can only get AI-ISP wizcolor working if I force colour mode.

Is this the intended behaviour and a limitation of the chip just like when you enable Large-Scale AI Models. I would much prefer being able to switch from b&w ir to AI-ISP wizcolor.

For those of you than use AI-ISP wizcolor and do you find it adds a lot of benefit or can it cause extra blur on motion.

It might be time for some upgrades as I would love to be able to use both the AI-ISP wizcolor and Large-Scale AI Models features at the same time along with being able to trigger the warm led via ivs.

You know I’m not familiar other than the marketing leaflet with AI-ISP

What model 4MT? And what FW version?

Could I bother you to post a screen grab of where it’s enabled?

There is no option to enable it. It gets enabled automatically as long as your not using Large Scale AI Models and in my case above, as long as you force colour mode at night. To see if it's working, force colour mode at night and enable / disable Large Scale AI Models and you should notice a difference.

I'm currently running the official dahua firmware System Version 3.140.0000000.18.R Build Date: 2025-08-15 on my EmpireTech IPC-Color4M-T

Do they make this camera in a bullet? I'd like to mount it up on a pole.

Are you guys still happy with this cam? I really wanted to go with another 4k-x but that camera can't turn on its warm lights upon motion detection like this camera can which is something I need.

Yes.

It still has issues similar to the 54PRO series. Not as bad in my experience, but noticeable.

If you need color at night by using the white LEDs (in short areas) it has some promise. As distances increase it will need added off-camera lighting assistance.

As usual, cut spec illumination distances in 1/2 for realistic usable illumination.
If you’re going to run IR stay with the 5442 series

Here's some samples of the 3449H-ZAS-PV-PRO. This is the new Variable focus version of the camera this thread is about.

Note that I only have it zoomed only a smidge (lets say 3.6mm) as I need to capture the dock entrance and the home entrance.
The primary purpose though is to watch the windows along the sun room.

I only spent about 2 hours on this so all of the samples can be refined.
If I was going to leave it there, I'd need a couple more nights of testing to dial it in as best as possible.
But these should give you some idea and back up my previous claims.

Sample #1
(I've turned off my 5442 that oversees the dock)
  • This is using Smart Illumination mode as I suspect most would as its a key selling point for this camera
  • Obviously 4ms is too fast for this camera in this area without added light
  • Flagpole is 30ft
  • 20ft is where is starts going to shit
