Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

My new 4K-T is running firmware V3.140.0000000.32.R, Build Date: 2025-01-15, is it safer to stay on this or upgrade to latest 0.38

I have read quite a bit of the thread, so should probably go back over it, being lazy. Only immediate thing I notice is the mic sounds a bit like water being poured over it. - that will probably be the mic picking up the pond pump/filter  it's been a long day!

In the meantime I am now waiting for daylight to see how this camera looks :thumb:
Too funny, my cameras have picked up some strange sounds over the years. Stray Cats crying at night are my favorite.

My IPC-Color4K-T came with V3.120.0000000.12.R, Build Date: 2023-01-05 and has never been updated. I barely changed any settings when I got it and haven't changed anything since. The mic isn't great, that's for sure. But the image is excellent 24/7/365 for an overview camera.

Too bad the idiots at Dahua couldn't figure out that the camera was and still is a winner and could be a Gold Medal camera with a few updates. Instead, most of their development funds go toward the marketing department which really comes up with some dumb-ass names like Wiz . . . as in Piss. :poop:

I just bought another just to have a backup
I may be buying one for a backup too, along with four IPC-B52IR-Z12EB-S2 cameras for backups. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right? :)

This link led me to a review of the AI Bullet not the AI DSLR

The camera appears to be very good but I have not been very impressed with UI’s ability to do detections at night.

I wasn't impresded with the daytime picture, Night was impossible to assess due to there being no camparison in the video I linked between the night picture, the actual light as seen by an eye and another known camera. Overall not impressed. It maybe there isn't a great low light sensor between 1" and 35mm, I wouldn't know as not that into photography to know the cameras out there.

4kt still the low light king at reasonable price albeit with some drawbacks.

Ok, no problem, I will leave alone for now. Just seen comments on wind noise, that could make sense, I will add some foam on each mic to test that tomorrow. It is actually fine, now I realised the source of the noise :rofl: see above post - actually seems very sensitive compared to my other cams so all good.

Put some foam on the mic. Turn the sensivitiy down! That seems counter intuitive but in my experience the mics are turned way too far up in terms of gain and there appears to be distortion as a result. The mics aren't great though in the 4kt.

That's actually given me a feature request idea for BI - a graphic equaliser for the sound. Maybe it's possible to even the response externally for a more normal sound response.
