Love it. You realize I was kidding about the running, right? ha ha Wondering what setting you have for sharpness. I ran mine through several tests and determined that "22" is the best setting. Also, my 2D NR is at 22, but I had to raise the 3D NR to 37. Gain at 50. Any higher leads to artifacts in the darkest areas of the image.
 
Whoa, that makes it look like it is 5pm. I have noticed that the new camera is leaning toward the set-it and forget-it crowd. It's good that there are some on here who take the time to put it through its paces--to find the best manual settings.

AutoExp unfortunately doesn't tell us much about what the camera is doing ... so if you were so motivated, I'm curious what manual shutter/iris/gain settings ... and if you set the 4K-X to the same, how would the relative brightness of that compare?

WRT motion blur: Seems like a bit of an unfair comparison to the 4K-X ... since it is wide-angle and the relative motion of the "test subject" is much less than the zoomed in Z4.

BTW, did I miss the 5442-S3 footage ... as that would be interesting to see side-by-side.

Auto is Auto- No Manual shutter, Gain, Iris settings visible. Factory default

I'm not comparing the blur to the 4K-X, I simply showed that for perspective of the scene lighting as they are stacked touching each other. 4K-X is running 0-5 shutter

5442 S3 Z4 but in B$W/IR not comparing it to this scene in color, I was comparing it to @tmxv4128 's scene

That's pretty close to what I'm seeing on the regular 54PRO ZE. I'll post some stuff on that in the other thread tomorrow.

Yes, that's exactly what I think also. This B54PRO-Z4E makes me want to like it, but the B54IR-Z4E-S3 beats the stuffing out of it in terms of low-light capture, sharpness, evenly lit IR, and lack of digital artifacts. Since I have a 4K-X on my driveway, I use it for color identification, but if someone was only able to use one camera for a particular placement, I can see how this could serve double-duty with both IR and warm LED (smart illumination). As an example, I did a search for "Guitar Man" on my NVR and found these clips from a few weeks ago. The B&W of the B54IR-Z4E-S3 is superior to the B54PRO-Z4E, but the latter has it beat for color in the daytime.

That should help 4K sales :) but yes, welcome to the 'try and freeze motion at night' club with the 54Pro, I recommend shutter below 2ms, 1.5ms if you can manage it. No logic I know but just facts for now...

Oh I know 2ms will all but eliminate blur on most slow moving targets. But if the noise is such that the face is a garbled mess of digital noise, so what?

I know, just have to push them best possible at the moment, this is one reason I have sharpening off and NR almost zero or sub 10. Keep gain low as I can and suffer dark images :facepalm: But I totally agree, at night these things are sub par, the 4K and S3 look very good in comparison.
