Anybody try Visible Wireless for cell phone provider?

If you are looking for 'cheap' try US Mobile. They are a reseller with a choice of carrier using the major 3 firms. They also have plans for those that need data. In my case, our yearly cost for a cell phone with US Mobile is $72 per year all taxes and fees included. Only use unlimited talk...

    Alaska Bumper Cars

The image does not show the road into the development across the street. The driver had their turn signal on and was making a left turn into their subdivision access road. The other driver was not paying attention (IMO) to traffic conditions.

    Alaska Bumper Cars

Just a bit slippery on Friday. Snow and rain are never a good combination. The only thing injured were the cars as the posted speed limit is 25 MPH. A number that most folks in Alaska perceive to be only a suggestion.

    Alaska Snow

A little cool for Florida. That makes one concerned for the orange and other temperature sensitive trees. Here, have a little bit of Florida in the house with a 7 foot grapefruit tree. Nice, when it blooms.....

    Alaska Snow

Thanks Andy.... This is using an older Dahua 2831T-ZAS-S2 in color both for day/night as the deck has a light for night use for the snow video. Folks in Alaska would think that 30C is WAY too warm! Here is a short video of high school kids leaving a school bus at -4.4 C (24 F) on their way home.

    Voice from Audio extraction

With Audacity one can expand the time line and select a portion that has background noise and remove it. Plus it is one of those free programs. How it compares to a high cost commercial program is unknown on my part. www.audacityteam.org Avid would be a commercial product and most likely an...

    Voice from Audio extraction

An option to VLC, and in my opinion easier to use, is Shutter Encoder a free program. It also has some basic audio processing built in. Drag the mp4 file into the box and select the desired audio file output. Audio Files Supported WAV, AIFF, FLAC, ALAC, MP3, AAC, AC3, OPUS, Vorbis, Dolby...

    Voice from Audio extraction

It would be nice if there was a check box to discard video and retain audio when exporting from BI. As noted above, one solution is to export the video with audio and then extract the audio from the mp4 file using another program. If the selection is large, then the time required for BI to...

PTZ IR Mode On Manual Focus Doesn't Remember Focus Point

This may assist if it works on your PTZ model. Here using it on a Dahua PTZ SD5A425XA -HNR and it reports back the "Focus Position". It is a nice way to see if the focus number changes during the day. However, there is not a way to reposition to that focus number as best I can tell. Place...

T54IR-ZE-S3 Proper way to set auto IR for inside use? Day/night Switch, Customized Scene, BI PTZ presets day/night

Check the API to see if there are any GET statements that will display the needed info. As an example, for a PTZ, the following can be used to display 'status' of certain camera parameters. This most likely will not apply to other non PTZ Dahua cams...

T54IR-ZE-S3 Proper way to set auto IR for inside use? Day/night Switch, Customized Scene, BI PTZ presets day/night

Guess that Dahua had too many digital cooks in the kitchen and no one could agree on a 'standard'. Thus we have cameras that use both in different places. Confusing, yes!!! You have most likely already done this but just in case here is what I do for ms to shutter speed conversion. Divide...

    EmpireTech 2025 Autumn Sales

This setup works well in the winter months for snow measurement. It is an older Dahua HFW2831T-ZAS-S2 (2.7mm - 13mm). The camera is turned sideways with a snow shield to keep the snow off the lens. The deck has outside lighting and the cam works well under these lighting conditions. Newer...

How to deal with sunny vs stormy day in camera settings

A quick general answer, without knowing your camera, settings or images (as listed above) would be to set a range for the settings. Such as for shutter 0 to 8 ms for fastest shutter to 1/125 of a second. Same with gain.

Not a current user of ZT as it would not do subnets which is required when using BI that has no internet connection. i.e. the TS app resides on the Asus router. Thus went to Tail Scale which works well for my needs. In your case, try TS and see it if performs better than ZT for your...

Its time i fix my terrible image quality once and for all Dahua 5442T

Here is a set of example settings for the 5242-TZE. Note that for B/W night use, there are exterior garden lights as no IR is being used for this camera in my application. Your setting will be different for night with the use of on camera IR. Daytime settings could be in a useful range for...

New Uniview Owl Wise color IP camera vs IR camera

IMO it looks like the color image is taken during the day and not at night. If it were a night image then a whole lot of folks would be buying this camera by the boat load. With that depth of field plus no stars and stark shadows I would question that this is a 2 AM night image. Also please...

    Scheduled Contrast and Brightness Settings

When using Dahua cameras it is not necessary to use a function which requires a specific API for each camera. Instead set day/night modes for each camera which will switch brightness, contract, B/W, color, LED, shutter speed, etc when the sun goes down and then again when the sun rises. Thus...

    help with IP Camera models

There are a number of suggestions posted on this site. However, one idea that was posted is to use a 5 gallon bucket, insert a 2x4 perhaps 8 foot in length and secure with dirt, rock or cement. Make sure that the wind can not topple it over, perhaps a rope to some secure fitting. Test for a...
