Have you tried recently? I don't have that option. They want me to log in for everything except IP/Domain. Can't even search LAN.I can confirm this, just tested in a phone which did not had DMSS installed previously. Installed it from play store and could add device without logging in. "Maybe later" was there - as it should.
There are a few reasons behind DoLynk Care and it being a cloud service.Probably good for installer businesses like yours, hopefully us DIY'ers can block it
I would assume that comes with a monthly/annual service contract? It's a built-in subscription model
Update's still work the same as from the NVR. NVR reaches out to Dahua servers for newest firmware > NVR reaches out to DoLynk Care updating status that an update is available.I understand WHY Dahua is going this route: they control the security on the backend, ease of firmware/security updates for all products, all DoLynk products (home alarms, cameras, whatever else Dahua gets fingers into) available on 1 DMSS comprehensive app for programming, viewing, notifications, etc. Toshiba did the same with their phone systems (well, not just Toshiba but all the Big 5 for business phone systems). And I agree this is the way.
Yes, you do not require the cloud storage and/or paying a subscription for DMSS to continue working.Hopefully we can opt out
Of course I wont update my app for another 6-8 months after release anyway to give them time to sort out the bugs.
Enjoy Beta testers!
I haven't heard so.Free for both IP as well as P2P connected?
Still get free alerts?
I fear that at some point you may get free viewing via DMSS but be forced to pay to connect to their P2P servers for alerts
Mr DahuaTechnical, can you advise why Dahua have forced the use of accounts in DMSS? The obvious issue is that you are basically agreeing to have your data collected by third parties by entering an email address into the app. This goes for installers on DoLynk and end users on DMSS. I have used and installed Dahua for 15 years. I never had a security issue with a serial number/user/password method of adding devices. Dahua will try claim its for security, but the terms and conditions in the app clearly state there is data collection happening once you sign up.I haven't heard so.
My guess is very unlikely in the future for P2P.
There's too many functions based on P2P to monitor/manage for a subscription. Such as SmartPSS Lite, DSS and 3rd party integrations.
The feature for cloud storage mostly came from users of solar cameras wanting cloud storage instead of relying on an SD card.
As SD cards would fail after two years and the cameras was in a hard to reach location. Solar cameras are not suited for constant streaming to DSS server due to their nature of needing to conserve battery.
^ Mostly my assumptions.
I haven't asked for an offical statement to the relevant team.Mr DahuaTechnical, can you advise why Dahua have forced the use of accounts in DMSS?
Totally understandable. Thanks for replying. Look I love Dahua, just some decisions they make really frustrate me as an installer. DoLynk is not something the industry in my country would take to due to them having their ways set from previous versions of DMSS. DoLynk is just extra configuration and extra work.I haven't asked for an offical statement to the relevant team.
I don't want to share my ideas on a public forum which may be wrong and then lead to assumptions being taken out of context.
