Version 6

So after running Version 6 for awhile now with AI enabled on 15 cameras I noticed I am getting a lot of "Clip: Disk can't write fast enough" errors in my BI log file. This is only occurring with my Dahua cameras. I've made several changes to try and rectify this to no avail. I contacted BI support and they told me that my old Western Digital Purple running at 5400 rpm was too slow and and there was too much data being written with 15 cameras using AI.

Before I invest in a new Purple Pro, which would run at 7200 rpm, I wanted to see if there is anyone else having the same issue?

I had this start happening about 6 months ago on v5. All the error message were for cameras located on a specific drive. Error message continued when I upgraded to v6. I ended up replacing the drive with a new Exos X24 24TB drive. Error message went away immediately.

So it was definitely a bad drive in my case. It was right at 5 years.

Guess Santa needs to bring you a new purple drive pronto :)

I have had that error off and on over the years, but it has never been a problem. I am still on V5. I have 22 cams all writing continuous to three 10TB WD Purple 7200rpm drives. The 22 cams are spread out over the three drives. Those drives are about 5 years old.

It would go away when I would reboot the server.

Is it one specific drive those messages are appearing for? It was for me.

The problem is I was getting dropped recording when those errors were appearing as BI is basically saying it can’t write to the drive. So I was getting missed footage for those time periods.

I had trouble on 2 of my installs with this. I found its best to completely uninstall CPAI and delete the folders. Then reboot. Also, I had to toggle between "NO GPU" and GPU modes in the BI AI, each time stopping the BI service and restarting it. But I did get it to work on all of my installs eventually.
Yes, this fixed it. Thanks

You got me thinking...I went and checked the logs for November and it was always disk E. Every single time. Did not realize that. That disk is the oldest one. Checked December and have not had that issue this month.

I am rebuilding my server in a few weeks to a new box that can house six HDDs and the new MB supports that many. I guess I will replace that drive at that time.

I had a 8yr old 4tb purple crap out on me a couple of weeks ago, it simply started "disappearing" from the system.
A reboot would solve it for a day or two, then about the 4th time I rebooted it, it didn't come back.
Replaced with a 10tb Purple Pro. All is now right with the world again. :)

I'm managing just over 950TB of SAS flash drives in a Unity 650F since 2017 and not replace a single drive. Just about to wipe the whole array and give it away to charity as it's been replaced with a PowerStore 1200T with 336TB raw of pure NVMe drives, with dedupe and compression at x5 will be ~1500TB usable, let's hope they do as well as the older flash disks from the Unity 650F as the 15.3TB drives in the PowerStore are about £4000 each!

After a few glitches during install of BI 6, I managed to get my license and settings restored, and 6.0.1.7 is up and running. However, I noticed that Blue Iris Tools does not seem to recognize BI 6, and it will not restart it. Am I missing something? Is BI Tools defunct? Any updates for BI Tools coming? Other options for a watchdog?

What do you use it for?

Blue Iris Tools has been around for many years. In my case, I primarily rely on it to restart Blue Iris - both on PC boot-up and after an application crash, which has happened.
Wow. Never used it in the 10 years I’ve been using Bi. Yours crashes enough it needs a watchdog like timer? That is strange… Hopefully someone else will know the answer.

BI Tools still works...

To get it to run in BI6 go into task manager and right click on the process and select "Efficiency mode"
