Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Almost pulled the trigger on the IPC-T54PRO-ZE then came here to read the rviews and glad I havent pulled the trigger yet. I need something that will light up a bit when my daughter parks her car on the side of the house with not much light. Was really hoping this was it, hoping the firmware fixes it. Whats the alternative camera to this?

Hey guys

We have big progress on the firmware of the IPC-T54PRO-AS IPC-T54PRO-ZE. New fw's working is bit positive. @bigredfish @duplo @jmcu these 3 guys cost too much time for the testing, we appreciate!
Sure other guys who talk a lot here too to help on it, thanks a lot to them too!

The firmware Need more testing then we will invite more guys to test. I think @bigredfish will get us some of his testings soon. This version is the 1st version, the official one i think still have to wait to Jan.

Thanks!

Andy

Did I get banned from testing new firmware? :wow: email me a link please @EMPIRETECANDY- I got three of these things waiting patiently...

I know. I'm closely watching your progress though! ;)

Someone message me a link to Andy's new firmware, I'm pretty sure I've earned it :thumb:

Like many other who have been testing, I have hours and hours into the previous firmware, would've been kind of appreciated to get the latest for testing, never mind the fact I have 3x ZE models @EMPIRETECANDY

NOTE:
The changes I made here made the image worse upon review.

Refer to post #1365 above for the current best daytime images

Small changes to sharpen and add some contrast.

This is a tough spot with shadows and widely changing light conditions from morning to sunset

4pm-1.jpg 4pm-3.jpg4pm-2.jpg

Note these are a bit sharper than the old FW we were playing with that was softer
Also note that those streaks on the sides of the vehicles are reflections

*These are later in the day compared to the ones a couple of posts up.
I think the Defog hurts the image quality.

Woeful lack of video from me, but here are some stills from various cameras looking at the same vehicle, identical time of day just simply different angles. Useful to compare with the 54ProZE (1028 firmware), overcast conditions, all 100%, no editing, vehicle moving around 32-35mph :

54ProZE (50% optical zoom - 1182) 16 feet...

54Pro-Fedex.jpg

4K-T 2.8mm 20 feet...

4K-T-Fedex.jpg

2MP Z12E (75% optical zoom - 980) 70 feet...

2MP-Z12-Fedex.jpg

2MP Starlight (30% optical zoom - 460) 14 feet...

2mp-Starlight-Fedex.jpg

I would like to produce a similar comparison to the one above in low light, which I will attempt as and when the new firmware becomes available. Such tests take time and suitable vehicles are not always presenting themselves early or late in the day. For fairness I would also like to capture a darker vehicle to include in such a comparison.

See added note.

Like I said I have major light changes occur in this scene about 3-4 times per day this time of year. A difficult scene

The first batch in post #1365 above is better.

At this point its me playing with settings and personal preferences between sharp, lighter, darker, contrast etc,
Thats never ending. Analyzing white balance and depth by playing with Iris etc isnt going to really tells us much more

IMHO first blush for Daytime its pretty close to a 5442
There are still even at 0-1.5ms some artifacts that shouldn't be there

The 3449 TIOC PRO (4M-T) and this 54PRO thats going through transformation surgery

Be aware that with no other ambient light, the onboard lights are really only usable to about 20-25ft and tail off pretty quick past that

Wayyyy better than anything we had before. Being able to turn off AI-ISP is a big improvement.

I'll keep tweeking the image tonight but I am going to have to mount a 5442 Z4 in its place in the next few days for a real comparison

Remember, this is under a VERY weak streetlight. I mean its a joke.
If you have one of those gazillion lumen LED streetlights it would be MUCH better. Light fixes everything.
This is truly low light and I'm close to max image quality on moving targets here with this camera.

So turning off AI-ISP does seem to allow normal control over most settings again!

My first try at night color settings.
*Please note this is the Z4 model and its 56ft to the capture point. Recall also I have a streetlight that runs on candles. Its not the ideal lighting condition.

Tonight I'll dial it in better and try B&W/IR as for most folks without a shit ton of light, you're still going to be more likely to run B&W/IR

If you recall the last set of tests with AI-ISP locked, people were fuzzy, see through and smeared, and it HATED black vehicles.

Progress

Well... still not great on humans. I'll play with it some more over the weekend. Maybe I can squeeze some more out of it.
The new FW got rid of the streaking and ghosting
Its an improvement over what we had....but its still got a lot of digital fuzz noise at night on moving targets in color AND IR.

Weird it actually does better with vehicles now vs humans
