EmpireTech NVR / 5442 S3 Cams - Webplugin Not Functioning in Edge Browser

By the way, I have tried this on multiple computers. Is it possible that the lastest firmware update screwed the NVR up?

I run the same NVR just the 16. But I dont update FW unless someone holds me at gunpoint.

I'm running V4.002.0000000.7.R, Build Date: 2024-07-17

That one is kinda mandatory due to security issues prior to that, anything after that I can't be certain.

Well crap, I can't even find where to check the version I am running now. Is there a way to roll firmware back?

Its under "Maintain"

I think you can if you're still running V4... there was a later Octover 24 release that i think is ok, lemme see if I can find it

There’s something unique going on with your setup. I can assure you installing SmartPSS lite is typically very simple. Have installed it for a lot of folks.

As to the NVR playback, I think you’re seeing remnants of what a few of us went through last week when we were getting the white screen and no video . There was some kind of Win11 update (or mebbe Edge specific update?) in conjunction with a new plugin (viewer thingy) by Dahua on newer UI5 cameras.

I deleted the plugin folder from Torch and had to reboot 2x to get things to settle down

So if I delete the torch directory it should reload? By the way, I have a funny workaround. I open one session in Edge and the other in IE. I can find what I want by viewing in Edge and then cut from the instance running in IE. There's more than one way to skin this cat.

LOL yeah I occasionally do the same using SmartPSS when my browser wont feed the video on any given cam/plugin/fw version combo

It all works well together on a brand new install with all similar series and similar FW cams, but when you get to a system like mine with 7 year old cams, brand new cams, 8 year old NVR, etc, you start to see all the variances over the years between plugin requirements and which browser which cam prefers. Just being honest, the whole plugin thing is a fucking disaster

Yes, that opens plain IE. I use it. sometimes.

But what I'm seeing and hearing from folks the past 2-3 weeks is something we've not seen before.
There is a lack of consistency and using straight IE doesnt fix the issue on all cameras and FW versions

Something has changed and it all started the day last week when Edge updated and I installed the new plugin for the Triple lens camera because I had no video all of a sudden.
I normally decline it

No rhyme or reason lately

Example

IE but not installing the plugin
no video
IE-5442HBullet.jpg

Edge plain

Pale moon on older 5241 Z12
This used to work fine, now no video, now asking for ActiveX control

I fully agree with your last sentence.

I don’t really think it’s an NVR issue. It’s a browser/win11 issue of some type
