2nd Amendment thread

Speaking of cars on blocks, been hearing many HOAs are not allowing people to work on their cars in their own driveway. I seemed to remember a neighbor coming to me and told me ours was or was going to, while I was changing the brakes on our car. My working on our vehicles is usually maintenance, so done in a day. Our driveway was spotless, that is no oil on it.

Was pissed one time when the garage repair guys parked in our driveway and when they drove off left oil spots...I quickly grabbed the kitty liter which works well...

Unless its in the covenants it shouldnt be a problem IMHO. What do the covenants say?

That said, if you have a junker in your drive torn apart for months with parts strewn all over the yard, thats a problem.

Our covenants said it was fine just so it wasn't visibly in pieces overnight and had wheels on it

I understand why people want HOAs .. yet isn't that a way of exerting extra controls, which potentially are infringing on your rights?

Isn't this a reason why those who love liberty want to reduce governments, and HOAs are just really the first level of Government to many people.

It is also not a representative Government, as an investment company like Blackstone or Berkshire can be the majority owner of the units they rent out and make rules which the renters have no say in.
More of the lords controlling the votes, not the peasants or republicans ( not taking about US political party, but of those who believe in a republic vs a feudal system )

Recall the "You will own nothing and be happy about it"

An HOA for a subdivision of single-family homes is not the same as a Condo Association that is run by the developer of the complex. It is certainly not the same as the management of a rental complex.

I want less government. Especially way less national government. Pushing down 'governance' to the most local level is what I would prefer. We need government to supply the basics and provide systems of laws and enforcement. But having it at the most local level, to me, makes it more flexible for local issues. I have lived in homes that were in cities that had zoning not HOAs. I have lived in two different homes that are in (different) HOAs. I prefer the HOA neighborhoods since they seemed to be more responsive to the owners of the property than the city homes zoning enforcement bureaucracy. Yes, there have been times that 'Karens' caused issues in the HOA. But like BRF stated, you are given the rules before you buy. Read them. If you don't like the enforcement, go to the meetings, run for the board. If the HOA rules bother you, buy out in the country where you don't have those.

It is also not a representative Government, as an investment company like Blackstone or Berkshire can be the majority owner of the units they rent out and make rules which the renters have no say in.
You are a renter. You should not have any say in the rules. The owner only should. Look at the lease. If you don't like the rules, don't rent there. No one is making anyone rent/buy where they don't want. Vote with your money/feet.

This video discusses a recent incident in Miami Gardens, Florida, where a food delivery driver was targeted in a robbery attempt while delivering an order of banana pudding (0:00 - 0:45).

Key events and takeaways:

  • The Attempted Robbery: Two suspects, identified as 20-year-old Demetrius Travis and 19-year-old Jabari Thomas, allegedly attempted to rob the driver. One suspect reportedly entered the backseat of the vehicle, held the driver at gunpoint, and tried to access the driver's Cash App (2:45 - 3:05).
  • Self-Defense Outcome: The delivery driver, who was armed, fired his weapon in response. One suspect was killed, and the other now faces murder charges in connection with the failed robbery (3:05 - 3:22).
  • Advocacy for Drivers: The creator emphasizes the dangers faced by gig workers and delivery drivers, who frequently enter unknown neighborhoods and situations (4:03 - 4:30). He strongly advocates for drivers to carry firearms for self-protection and to utilize cameras that record both the interior and exterior of their vehicles to provide evidence in case of legal investigations (4:30 - 4:55).
  • Legal Aftermath: The video highlights that even when acting in self-defense, drivers face a challenging legal process, including being detained and having their vehicles processed as evidence (6:25 - 6:50).

I feel bad for Craig. "During my last FFL/SOT anal inspection they MADE me dispose of two Ruger 22/45 barreled actions (no frame) and change them from receivers to FRAMES. "

anal inspection?
