Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

I think HiK and others are in the same/similar boat with regards to sensors.

Not sure how much is availability, how much is politics, or how much is just plain $$$

I will say I have one 54PRO I kept doing duty at the back door. With added motion 1000 lumen flood light 4 ft away, it’s acceptable for this 15ft area.

The big selling point is the IVS activated white lights. Let’s face it, that’s the feature most needed and what could have been a home run on the 5442

As it stands, my experience with getting the 5442 to switch to color requires about 2000 lumens to be reliable

You could always opt for a Reolink 3000 lumen PoE powered Elite Floodlight for $170 when on sale (significantly cheaper than the 54PRO) - Mount it in the vicinity of the 5442

But then I hear that Reolink doesn’t work reliably with Blue Iris - but thats probably user error lol

While many of us praise the Dahua cams, we do not praise EVERY model they put out. Many are clearly intended for folks other than us. This model is one such camera that is trying to compete with the other stuff out on the market now.

And even with the best cameras they produce, not many firmware updates come out, so it shouldn't be a shock to anyone that have had these types of cameras for awhile that this is normal.

I wouldn't be so quick to shut the door on Dahua. In my opinion many here jumped the purchase gun on this new series without waiting for actual reviews (although the promo videos were not very good to begin with). Who else are you going to go to?

Newer isn't always better.

Waiting for a review from someone other than a paid influencer or company promo video is time well spent than buying multiple untested cameras and being disappointed.

Apparently the 7-series has the capabilities we are looking for.

So as always it comes down to performance/cost versus your acceptance of motion blur in low light conditions.

The 7 Series costs twice as much as the 5 Series. With three cameras, you'll quickly hit 1,500.

The issue is that its been well over a year with very little to no improvement. Folks here agree, lol

Since I don't update firmware, if the camera can't perform at time of purchase, I wait or buy something else and don't buy with the hopes a firmware update will fix what is wrong with a camera I haven't bought yet LOL.

After dealing with Ubiquiti crap, I've learned to never update firmware unless it is absolutely necessary and that it is confirmed bug-free
