That certainly proves the point, you sound knowledgable from a camera lens point of view, which means you likely know the difference between an average zoom compared to a f1.4 prime 35mm or f2.8 400mm etc, totally different ball game. I remember the days when I used to install high end Panasonic analogue box cameras with best quality f0.95 lenses (or similar) at the time, huge difference for low light, very expensive to build one camera with the Genie housings but fantastic light sensitivity, the S3 today comes close, as do the 4K series with slower shutter speeds, but the modular lenses on high quality box cameras were something else at night. Of course I would take a 4mp S3 all day everyday now due to resolution, but the live image feed on those things was something to behold
In a bullet or even a turret, no reason why a large sensor cannot be installed if is fair to say. I would be interested to know what lens options are available to Dahua and others, and/or if they have to have these custom made. I know from the DSLR/mirrorless world that fast aperture glass transforms the image quality, I would take an old camera with good glass over a new one with average glass all day long, for raw image quality and light gathering ability. I also have no doubt that a 4K-X with upgraded lens and associated onboard processing would likely cost twice the price, still a price I would pay for critical locations though, doubtful I would be alone.
