If you have a current support plan you can upgrade to V6, I don't believe that you can do the V5 to 6 upgrade from within V5. The highly recommended way is to download the V6 full install from the BI web site and then install it, do not remove V5 before you install V6!So I am on release 5.4.9.18. Everything is running smooth, but I have been trying to install ASH21 cameras that I had purchased a long time ago (PITA cameras...never make that mistake again).
I see that along the way, there was some upgrades that may have made installing these easier?
Can anyone tell me quickly my options for upgrading? I see you can get 1 year extension of support and maintenance without subscription $35. it says upgrades a version 4 to 5?? Would that allow me to upgrade to 6?
If I go this route, can I do upgrade trough the software?
Ok. Thank you. After I originally installed BI many years ago, I never got upgrades. It seems like I can just pay the 35$ fee to upgrade to 6?
They're supposed to be sold in the IPCT Store but not sure what happened, they have not been sold there for some time now....and going from v4 you would need a new license. Are BI Licenses still being sold via the Store? It's been years since I installed BI4, and thinking it's prob. just as easy to purchase a fresh license & install on a clean build - but it seems like no new licenses have been made available for some time here, and may just buy from other sites if there are no plans to 'restock' the licenses in the store.
Thanks!
Were you running CPAI when you updated? Not sure if this is the right way to do this, but here's what I did.

- From the about page in BI5 exported the settings to a backup directory
- Used BI Tools to capture my current license
- Downloaded the install file from the BI website:
- Shutdown BI5 and stopped the service
- Ran the install file downloaded in step 3
- Checked the old BI5 service and made sure it was set to manual startup
- Rebooted PC
- After the reboot there were two BI icons on my desktop. One said Blue Iris and the other was Blue Iris 5. I started the new install using the Blue Iris icon and to my surprise all my cameras and settings were intact so I didn't need to import the settings from step 1 or the license key from step 2.
- Verified everything was working including UI3 and the mobile app
- Setup the new instance to run as a service and autostart
- Uninstalled BI5 via Windows control panel
- Deleted the old BI5 directory (C:\Program Files\Blue Iris 5)
Yes and then after I updated I switched to the internal AI in BI6.Were you running CPAI when you updated?
Yes, it's almost $100 there.HI folks, my version BlueIris 5.9.9.73 8.Aug.2025.
by Blue Iris by Perspective Software LLC | Video Security and Webcam Software I can see the price $99.99 is it correct?
You could just buy it direct from Perspective Software and and then you could feel good that you have contributed to the ongoing BlueIris development!

192.168.1.103 is the Blue Iris computer's IP address on your LAN, and that 7781 is the port number its web server is listening on.
