There's a bunch of sleight-of-hand and logic errors in this social media beauty.

First off, the $20,100 "paid by employer" is not a subsidy, it's part of the employee compensation package. Would anybody really believe that the employer is giving a gift of ~$20k without a corresponding salary deduction?

The only employee subsidy here is the tax savings on the $20,100+$6,850, or $26,950. At the 12% marginal rate I suspect the large majority of workers are in, that's a subsidy of $3,234, an effective subsidy of 12%, a far cry from the claimed 74%.

The $14,700 ACA subsidy is higher than the $3,234 employee subsidy, yet this nice graphic says it's smaller.

What it doesn't say is if the employee "subsidy" disappeared tomorrow, the employee annual pay would go up about $20,100 to offset what the worker would "suddenly owe", and the only loss to the worker would be the taxes due on that additional $20,100.

Unless you believe that the employers are currently donating this annual $20,100 out of the goodness of their hearts :).

The post is here:

Another example of how anybody can put crap information into a pretty picture and post it on the Internet.

Nice try. You can nitpick it, but the overall message is quite accurate.

Employers are providing healthcare offsetting money as an incentive, yes technically part of compensation, one they know is not taxed.
Pretty far reach for you to assume an employer is going to give you the $20K (or that the tax on the xtra $27K would be at 12%):winktongue:

The system is designed for the employer to be able to offer the incentive tax free to him.

Without the offset by the employer, the employee's healthcare costs WOULD indeed skyrocket.
Go ask someone who is actually buying healthcare via ACA OR Private insurance what their costs are.

Wife has employer shared insurance. Costs her $500 out of her paycheck , employer pays a little more.
She was 62 at the time but retiring (2 years ago) so we needed health insurance for her for 2-3 years before eligible for Medicare
ACA and Private insurance, which we looked into and got quotes before she took this job for her old boss (because they were close and she wanted to help her out -dying of cancer, not because she planned on working)
$1400-$1600 for ACA and $1800+ Private Ins, per month, FOR ONE PERSON (depending on a few things for Private direct insurance)

Thats 3X+ more money per month.

Regardless of how you want to frame it, without the subsidies, health insurance for a family is crazy expensive. And If you think employers are just going to raise your salary by $20K to help you offset it, think again

And that’s just for the premium, not actual out of pocket costs that range from $6000-$9000

So however you want to play with the numbers, using my wife as example,

Now- $6000 premium p/yr
Plus $7000 out of pocket

Vs
$$18,000 premium p/yr
Plus $6000 out of pocket

Our cost
$13,000
Vs
$24,000

Now go tell a family of 4 that works out and there’s no subsidy
My guess, pure guess, is a family of 4 would be $30,000-$40,000 per year for health insurance easy without subsidies

Fucking idiot … he’s getting the Cult fired up about Comminism…which isn’t even remotely an issue (except his own actions like the government buying up private companies)

But the Cult doesn’t know any better..

The “Save Act” is aimed squarely at suppressing women voting. Others will fall into the trap but that’s the big voting block Trump knows he’ll lose.

  • Note this applies to new voters. In theory existing registered voters are t effected
  • Also note that the Constitution still as of Monday gives the States the power to set voting regs, not the Feds
