This process, often called "escalation of commitment," makes it progressively harder to pull away. It's much easier to stay in the group and believe the external world is hostile and deceptive than to face the cognitive dissonance of realizing you may have been wrong. The media, political opponents, and even basic institutions are framed as "enemies," which only strengthens the group's internal cohesion and a sense of shared persecution.
Last but most importantly, this loyalty-over-logic approach is less about policy and more about emotion. It's a response to a perceived threat to a way of life, a feeling of being forgotten or left behind. The leader becomes a symbol of strength and defiance, someone who "says what we're all thinking" and fights back against a system that has, in their view, failed them. In this environment, rational debate and fact-checking are seen as the tools of the enemy, designed to undermine their faith. The connection to the leader is personal and visceral, a bond forged in shared grievances and a common enemy. It’s a powerful emotional engine that can drive a movement forward, even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.

475 people detained in raid by ICE, other agencies at Hyundai site in Georgia
In a large-scale immigration enforcement raid at a huge Hyundai facility in Georgia on Thursday, 475 immigrants suspected of living and working in the U.S. illegally were detained, federal authorities announced.
Steven Schrank, the special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Georgia and Alabama, told reporters Friday that the majority of those detained were Korean nationals, but he didn't know exactly how many. They worked for a variety of different companies at the site, including subcontractors, he said.
South Korea's Foreign Minister Cho Hyun said Saturday that more than 300 South Koreans were among the 475 people detained.
No criminal charges were announced during Friday's news conference. The sweep was conducted as part of a month-long investigation into allegations of unlawful employment practices and other federal crimes, Schrank said. He described Thursday's raid as the largest enforcement operation at a single site in the history of Homeland Security Investigations, which is a unit of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

We need to find out who enabled this. If it was Hyundai officials secretly smuggling in illegals then we need to dole out the punishments. And honestly, it's hard for me to imagine that some Koreans crossed the Mexican boarder and just happened that all get employed at a Korean factory. It's not like they were rounded up picking avocados in Kalifornia. No accountability just means the circus continues.
