Who still browses the internet without blocking ads and website scripts?
When you visit the ipcamtalk.com forum without blocking anything, you are immediately notified that - based on
default settings - 210 "partners" gain access to your data.
Hardly any user is going to spend ages clicking and scrolling through all the options just to see what they could or should configure.
BTW: I also frequent a German-language site about Home Assistant that passes data to 1751 "partners" via its default settings.
Unfortunately, this kind of data trading and the associated display of ads have become the norm in almost all forums these days, ostensibly to help cover operating costs - something that is, to an extent, understandable and acceptable. However, in recent years, it has become increasingly prevalent and intrusive, and it is simply getting more and more annoying. Consequently, forum operators shouldn't be surprised when more and more users decide to block and hide
everything.
If a website or forum goes too far and annoys me excessively with advertising or data trading, there are only two logical courses of action for me:
1. Block ads and scripts.
Or
2. Stop visiting that website or forum altogether.
Both are things the forum operator presumably does not want, yet they are the logical consequence and reaction.
