Money & Economics

Well yeah, of course. ;)
But I mean when .Gov actually steps in and takes equity stakes in the AI circle jerk, that's when we know they were about to crash and .Gov is trying desperately not to let that happen.

As we agree, the base correction/crash has already occurred. Slowly over a couple of months.

The only thing holding the whole thing up is about 8 companies. Those same companies need more money than the US budget to support the illusion (capex) and there is no clear timetable to profitability

PLTR and Boston Group growing, McKinsey growth stalling

Is McKinsey losing its crown to AI?

This video from The Economist explores the pivotal challenges facing the consulting giant McKinsey & Company as it approaches its centenary (0:00 - 1:07).

Key takeaways include:

  • Stalled Growth: After a decade of rapid expansion, McKinsey's growth has slowed significantly, with estimates around 2% for the past year, accompanied by a reduction in headcount by approximately 5,000 since late 2023 (0:40 - 1:08).
  • Competitive Pressure: While McKinsey expanded by acquiring various digital and implementation-focused firms (1:09 - 2:07), its rival, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), has successfully retained specialists and is on track to potentially overtake McKinsey in revenue (2:08 - 3:05).
  • The AI Disruption: The rise of AI and new technology-focused competitors, such as Palantir, present a major threat. These companies are embedding their technology directly with clients, challenging the traditional strategy consulting model (3:06 - 5:24).
  • Long-term Outlook: While McKinsey is training its own AI models using its intellectual property, the commoditization of AI grunt work may compress fees. However, consultants may simply pivot to advising on new management challenges in an AI-driven world (5:25 - 7:24).
