Good thing people pay big bucks to get that information LOL.

Meanwhile we heard about that for free back in May :lmao:

The meat of the article, IMO (and it's free to read, no subscription needed):

Excerpt:

Real "Manufacturer"?
The problem is, central to FCC and NDAA regulations, who actually becomes the real "manufacturer" of these products?
Foxlink could assemble the hardware, but does that mean that Foxlink is the manufacturer?
A critical element unspoken by Dahua is who develops the firmware and software for Dahua (or whatever these products are now). That is much clearer to answer. No short-term feasible way exists for Foxlink or others to completely or even primarily develop new firmware and software as the complexity and overhead of that is far greater. And that is where their core intellectual property and cybersecurity risk exist.

I can say this.... Most of the personnel for Dahua USA and what is now Luminys is the same. There was a lot of people leaving Dahua and Hikvision before due to being scared regarding what would happen due to the NDAA ordeal though. Not too sure as far as what is really different as far as before versus now except for name. They say they are moving manufacturing to Foxconn factories but don't know about the firmware stuff.

From a hardware standpoint, they seem to be more or less the equivalent for the current offerings. I'm sure once new models come in then probably will see more drastic changes. Do note that software (firmware) side it seems the Dahua/Empiretech one is still better in my testing. From what I have been told, Luminys is not allowed to use any of Dahua's new tech from the hardware and software side so they need to design their own. With that being said, Dahua firmware is not able to be loaded on to Luminys products. Would show an error when trying to do so. When playing with the Luminys NVRs and cameras, once you start turning on more of the features, it seems to start lagging a bit. I guess they haven't fully optimized the code or something.

Thanks. Disappointing that you seem to be paying a premium for inferior product with less potential support moving forward.
