LPR setup help

Quick question for all you smart people.

If I were to purchase another Poe+ or poe++ swtich to run 2 switches. Would you have the ethernet cable from the NVR to the main POE switch (in this case the trendnet) and then another ethernet cable from the trendnet to the second POE switch?

Now for IP addresses and all that, would you change the IP address to the same range as the first one (say it's 10.3.3.3) or change to a different address such as 10.4.4.4?

Thank you much

I have four POE switches. Two in a rack in my IT closet, one in the garage, and one in my first-floor office.

In the attached diagram, the POE switches are in RED. I run dual NICs in two PCs and two subnets, one for the cams and one for everything else. You could think of the PI PC as your NVR and ignore the Office PC.

Hope this diagram helps.

So basically the last 3 in the IP address should be different, everything else the same. Thank you!
As long as you are also separating out your surveillance network whether that be physically, different switches on different LAN configs, dual homed (2 Nic's) as @samplenhold is using OR through VLAN's (along with firewall rules in place of course). Just making sure you weren't setting up a LAN with everything flat (same subnet etc across the board).

Perhaps progress on the new light. Happened to catch a crew taking GPS measurements and looking in man hole covers around the area the new pole is to be installed.
I'm thinking they're coming up with a way to get power to the new pole.

I thought they were just going overhead, but now guessing underground.

Progress regardless. :)

So your saying you may have a new street light by Christmas? :p:p

Something that kind of creeps me out is when people do a slow drive by of my house looking at the cameras, especially when it's in the middle of the night.
Some guy drove by and stopped for a few seconds looking at my house. I know of the guy, but it still creeps me out.

With the world as it is right now, it really does freak me out a bit.

Hopefully this new light gets put up sooner than later. I want that extra light to hopefully be able to run my PTZ and/or my 7 series cam in color.

Speaking of color... I finally have my 431 dialed in to where I can get clear color 24/7. I changed the view just a bit, but now the problem is I don't always capture front plates.

So, do I back the camera out a bit and get front plates, but also not have quite as good capture of back plates, or just leave it as is?
