I just had to reinstall on a new system and am experiencing some lag in the live video that we didn't have on the old system.

Dell OptiPlex 3070 SFF Computer Desktop, Intel Core i7-8700 up to 4.6GHz, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM, Keyboard & Mouse, HDMI, WiFi, BT, Windows 11 i5 PC (Renewed)

These are the specs of the new system plus an 8tb wd purple drive.

Any thoughts on things I can look at to make live playback smoother?

Insure Windows, BI and the BI db folder are on the SSD and BI videos on the spinning Purple.
Insure you're using substreams, Direct to Disk, follow tips in the Wiki :

If you imported the old BI configuration (and are using the same BI version so that isn't a factor) and followed the guides linked above for any system related configuration (anti-virus, hardware acceleration etc) but still have issues then what are the hardware differences from the old system? (RAM/CPU/GPU)

Also does Task Manager or Resource Monitor show any bottlenecks during playback?

TonyR and rkn covered the big ones. One more hardware note: that OptiPlex listing is only 8GB RAM, which is tight for Blue Iris once you have more than a handful of cameras plus UI3 and Windows 11. Live lag with a fine CPU often shows up as Windows paging when BI's memory climbs. If Task Manager shows commit climbing toward or past physical RAM while the live view is stuttering, bumping to 16GB is the cheaper fix before chasing GPU decode. Also watch the BI status bar for dropped frames / delayed while you sit on live view.

I'm getting there you guys. Thanks for all the info and help. CPU down from 99% to 21% Ram down from 89% to 15%. I have sub streams on all cams now. Is there any reason i can't have my cameras at the highest resolutions now? I had put them down to using lower resolutions to help with the smoother streaming. I still need to tweak hardware exceleration so I think I will save a little cpu after that as well. Really happy

In multi-cam view, there is no reason to waste CPU on high-res video - NVRs have operated this way for years.

If we missed something using substream, we wouldn't be using it.

When you double tap a camera to go solo it will switch to mainstream, as will any triggers.
