Maybe @Underhill can provide an update, but disappointing in this thread

Could you elaborate on the 'level of shitty image quality', for my use case?Unfortunately there are scenes where its just not practical to put enough external white light on to make the 4K-T/X work.
IR is still a nice backup
All comes down to what level of shitty image quality you can live with

I have a Color4M-T in 3.6mm and a Color 4K-T in 2.8mm that I bought last year to replace two cams on my front porch. There is good lighting and the cams that are to be replaced do run in color all night.
The 2 cams I am replacing are as follows:
1. A T5442TM-AS in 2.8mm pointing at my front door from a pole on the porch. So people are very close as they walk by. See the pic showing the location of that cam:

And this is the view from that cam:

2. A T2231T-ZS-S2 set at 9.2mm located on the rafter at the end of the porch and pointing across the porch. See its location on the previous pic. This is the view from that cam.

What are the cons for using either of those Color4 cams in either of these positions? Is there a near focus issue?
Thanks.
Should've tried the 4M-TL instead. Set the onboard LED at minimum brightness for detection, and then brighten (and/or use your flood) when motion is detected and it'll do fine. As I've said before, its nighttime performance (once properly adjusted) is superior to the 4K-T, albeit at less than half the resolution. The 4M-T doesn't hold a candle to either of them, yet y'all keep trying that piece of junk...With added light the 4M-T did well. When I had it at my front door, with a 1000 lumen motion flood, along with its onboard LED's it was pretty good.
By itself, it showed the same severe fuzzies as the 54PRO
I recently tried a 3.6mm 4K-T at that same spot, I'll see if I can grab some recorded video.
But even with the added 1000 lumen flood over the door it was pretty grainy. I think I was using a 0-5 or 0-6 exposure

would love to see this as wellPlease provide an example from the 4M-TL at night with an object in motion.
We really need a video sample. I'll be honest. I don't want to waste an extra dollar if I am buying a camera that does not deliver. I feel like each subsequent model iteration has introduced more recycled cheap components, cheaper metallurgy. The original 5442 is built like a tank, followed by a cheaper paint finish and set screw in newer models. This is going to sound out of the ordinary, but I find the original 5442 image quality sharper than the S3 where it is softer like Soft Thai.Video sample?
I actually ordered this exact camera just for fun for $86.86 on AliExpress. ^^Should've tried the 4M-TL instead. Thank you for your sacrifice - by the way, do you have the Aliexpress link (asking for a friend, lol )I actually ordered this exact camera just for fun for $86.86 on AliExpress. ^^
I don't think anyone sells them on AliExpress. Is there an
Aliexpress link for the newer
IPC-HDW5459TM-ASE-IL?
