EOM (End of Marketing and Sales) for 5442-S3 announced

Unfortunately there are scenes where its just not practical to put enough external white light on to make the 4K-T/X work.
IR is still a nice backup

All comes down to what level of shitty image quality you can live with
Could you elaborate on the 'level of shitty image quality', for my use case?

I have a Color4M-T in 3.6mm and a Color 4K-T in 2.8mm that I bought last year to replace two cams on my front porch. There is good lighting and the cams that are to be replaced do run in color all night.

The 2 cams I am replacing are as follows:
1. A T5442TM-AS in 2.8mm pointing at my front door from a pole on the porch. So people are very close as they walk by. See the pic showing the location of that cam:

And this is the view from that cam:

2. A T2231T-ZS-S2 set at 9.2mm located on the rafter at the end of the porch and pointing across the porch. See its location on the previous pic. This is the view from that cam.

What are the cons for using either of those Color4 cams in either of these positions? Is there a near focus issue?

Thanks.

The 4K-T suffers from a narrow focus range - many see that outside of 14-18 feet the image will be soft/blurry. But of course it comes down to your monitor and your eyes as well.

Near focus is an issue on the fixed lens 4M-T (3.6mm) but I found it to be more like 3-4ft vs 11 per spec
Quality (at night) dropped off past 15ft+

My door is 7ft from the camera

With added light the 4M-T did well. When I had it at my front door, with a 1000 lumen motion flood, along with its onboard LED's it was pretty good.
By itself, it showed the same severe fuzzies as the 54PRO

I recently tried a 3.6mm 4K-T at that same spot, I'll see if I can grab some recorded video.
But even with the added 1000 lumen flood over the door it was pretty grainy. I think I was using a 0-5 or 0-6 exposure

I've gone back to the 5442 S3 becasue I just can't put enough light on that scene at night without being obnoxious to make those work and the 5542 image quality in IR is better IMHO
