EmpireTech 2025 Autumn Sales

This setup works well in the winter months for snow measurement. It is an older Dahua HFW2831T-ZAS-S2 (2.7mm - 13mm). The camera is turned sideways with a snow shield to keep the snow off the lens.

The deck has outside lighting and the cam works well under these lighting conditions. Newer versions most likely better.

Setup image plus image from camera.

RE; Upgrade to IPC-B5442E-ZE.

Hi, I have another notion instead of a new close focus camera just for my snow yardstick, I notice my lake cam (IPC-B5442E-ZE) has a close focus spec of under 4' and is over 4 years old. This is my favorite camera view so it may make sense to upgrade it and use the old IPC-B5442E-ZE on my snow yardstick.

What would be a good upgrade to the IPC-B5442E-ZE (hopefully in Andy's sale), that would provide a similar field of view?

Keeping the same field of view is very important (see attachment) I would assume that would require a vari-focus, but that's fine so was the IPC-B5442E-ZE. However I'm very confused with the relation of focal length to image sensor size and image size.

Thanks for your help
Dennis

All new 34PRO-ZE, 54IR-ZE-S3 and 54PRO-ZE will have the similar zoom range / Field of View.. All those have 1/1.8" sensor.
PRO models have hybrid light (IR + white, white can be activated by human motion), more open aperture (F1.2 vs F1.8 on 54IR models) and much modern video processing (AI-ISP)/better night performance...

Thanks, I'll take a look at them.

Note, for this camera, I don't need any of the special security cam features. Image viewing quality and again the field of view are primary.

Thanks,
Dennis

While the new 54PRO and VF 34PRO-ZE pick up light better, but I’m still waiting on good close in comparisons at night to see image quality compared to the older 5442 (54IR)

It takes a lot of white light to run the 54IR in color, but in B&W/IR the fixed lens version is superior in IQ vs 34PRO imho

The fixed 34PRO IS brighter but noisier than the standby 5442 (54IR). Remains to be seen if the new VF version 34PRO-ZE and 54PRO are similar
