Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

It’s .6 not .5 firmware… we had .4
It looks like there were .5 released in march which we never received

.5 have „other” AI target filter (to human/car/animal) for people who want more detection in IVS
There is also high frame support for 1080p

I have the 5r and it bricked my ZE. didnt try to update another cam

The 5459-IL horribly flunked an unplanned human detection test today. Four times, I walked through the edge of the FOV, visible for 2 to 3 seconds. The S3 triggered all 4 times, and the IL missed them all. The applicable tripwire is in the same place on both cameras. This is with the new .6 firmware.

The rule sensitivity is set higher on the IL, 5 vs. 3 on the S3. Global sensitivity is 5 on both. I guess I'll try cranking the IL's sensitivity higher.

I run sensitivity quite a bit higher. Typically 8 on most of my cameras… same with Global

I set the sensitivity to 10 on all my cameras.

Update for any new viewers to this website wanting to know the status of all the new cameras from Dahua . . . I'll save you a lifetime of grief from reading this drivel:

THE NEW CAMERAS SUCK, BUT WILL COME IN USEFUL FOR BIGFOOT SIGHTINGS, WHICH HAVE SUCKED FOR FIFTY YEARS AND WILL STILL SUCK IF YOU USE THE NEW CAMERAS.

You're welcome!

Is the -IL image quality now better ?

fedex lost mine :(
Bummer about the fedex loss. I'm starting to wonder if there might be a global conspiracy to keep -ILs out of the hands of IPCT members?

On the image quality I'm so far not noticing any difference from the .4 firmware that I previously had. I don't recall having criticized the -IL's image quality, intending to give the message that I think it's a bit better than the S3's, which in turn was a bit better than the previous 5442 S2 at the same location. Glancing at a few images with the .6 firmware vs. the S3 images leaves me with the same impression. I'm not planning on re-running any controlled comparisons with the S3. Takes too many hours I don't have in the near future.

I upped all of the IVS sensitivity setting on the -IL camera to 10 and am reporting back. The side-by-side S3 is, in effect, the equivalent of a control group in an experiment. I also made the IVS global length calibrations. Mt gut feeling is that this didn't affect anything. After a week, there's good news and bad news:

Good news:

1. For detecting objects, the -IL is now almost as good as the S3. It had only a handful of misses, and once or twice detected something the S3 missed. One consistent detection fail is that the -IL missed every time the S3 detected a mouse running through a trip line. I naturally don't know if the S3 detected mice reliably, or only occasionally.

2. The -IL is way better than the S3 at not falsely detecting blowing grass and tree limbs. The S3 is horrible with these.

Bad news:

1. The -IL false trips when slow moving shadows are present. Every morning as the sun is rising, it repeatedly false triggers as the shadows move. It happens over a 2 hour period in the early morning, abruptly starting, then abruptly ending. There have been as many as 50 false triggers over the 2 hours. The majority of the false triggers happen when the IVS decides that a particular rock plus a shadow is one of its objects. What seems horribly wrong is that even if the shadow makes the rock look like a human, vehicle, or animal, the rock isn't moving. My understanding of tripwires is that they trigger only when an object moves across the trip line.

I'm going to move the rock out of the FOV to see if that helps.

Tonight it thinks my heat pump is one of its objects. It does have some short legs under it, but it's not walking around.

So we're up to page 88 as of the time of this post and not much has changed since page 1. :p
