Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Regarding the price increases. I think the Ai related hardware giants will be more interested in DDR5 modules than 1GB storage used in IP Cameras :wtf: Might have been best if Dahua had just left that part out of the official price adjustment notification and stuck with tariffs.

The 54Pro does require good RAM...preferebly off a very high cliff

The problem is the supplier of their DRAM - but yes, you are correct in your own way that 15% to 30% price hike is hefty. Its better for me though because I don't spend additional of my hard-earned money; because progress in the cameras discussed here have reached a plateau and have remained stagnant for the past few years. We have not had a significant leap in IP camera technology since 2019 when the 5442 series was introduced. I don't even use SMD on the recorders; my Blue Iris setup has been rock-solid with a little tweaks here and there. That in combination with a adding a few Ubiquiti cameras in UniFi Protect have also proved advantageous and prices in Ubiquiti have already been inappropriately high to begin with.

I am totally onboard with your opinion and yes, it is the suppliers, DDR5 and DDR4 prices are plain stupid now, total price fixing by the three main suppliers. Disgusting, but it has happened before and will happen again, the fines are no deterrent for them. The 5442 was pretty much peak, followed by the S3 variants and for my money the 4K models where applicable. Until my 54Pro's arrived the older cameras had been very reliable combined with Blue Iris, they continue to work just fine of course, blighted somewhat by these 'prototype' units being sold as finished products, sadly.

I agree with later statement as well - the 54Pro does not even share the same sensor with the 5442 series; thus its fishy, and I'm actually glad prices are going up as it forces me to explore other options long-term. I don't mind replacing cameras with Ubiquiti cameras in the long run as IP cameras in general do not have a high-fail rate, thus hopefully Ubiquiti will expand their lineup in the long-term. Chinese manufacturers can respectfully keep their cameras and do whatever they have to do to stay afloat in the business such as raising prices. The higher prices will be the new normal going forward. The DRAM shortage is purported to be PERMANENT in nature. As we move forward, everything will be on just one chip (similar to how Apple is doing their bullshit). AI is going to dumb down the world extraordinarily. I have yet to come across any Good 4K camera that fits the bill - none are varifocal except the G6 Pro Turret from Ubiquiti which I plan to test later this month or next month. Ubiquiti also has their issues with releasing new products, often considered prototype products as well which takes years to solidify such as the G4 Pro Doorbell.

The DRAM price fixing will come and go, if history repeats itself, no way will prices stay like this long term, my opinion only of course. Even if some sub brands from Micron get swept away in the process, they will continue to supply others.

Much as I like the 5442/S3 range for being solid day and night units, the 4K-T and 4K-X series are incredibly good in low light, for my country that is a very big deal. Sadly this is where the 54Pro fall flat! amongst other areas! The 4K series do have some issues, but I am happy to live with these to get that low light performance and 8MP resolution when required. Although I own and have setup many Ubiquitu products over the years, I still mostly prefer Dahua for IP Cameras. Like you, this preference could be changing unless we see some better choices being made by the Dahua brand. Seems to me like they could cut half the product range and focus on quality not quantity, just for a start! No brand is perfect, not even close, but there are only two key ingredients with IP Cams, the sensor and the lens! - if either of those fail to perform, well you know the rest.

Absolutely, for now there is nothing new in the pipeline this from Dahua. I'm still not giving my pocket rest as I reserve a budget for some Ubiquiti things :p Fortunately, Ubiquiti's camera range isn't all over the place
