Dahua HDBW5442EP-ZES3 vs HDBW5459E1PZHE-IL

Hello,

I'm currently looking for a couple of options to implement a video surveillance in our grocery store. Currently we use a very old BNC based camera system which broke and needs to be replaced.

I had requested an offer for a couple of HDBW5442EP-ZES3 at a camera shop because the Dahua 5442-Edition have a quite good reputation. I also own a similar model at my home that I connected with Frigate.

However, the camera shop pointed out that it is also possible to order the newer, slighty more expensive model HDBW5459E1PZHE-IL because it has some new features. I am a bit confused because the data sheets don't make clear what's new or what is better in this model.

Is there anyone who has experience and would it be a good idea to pay a bit more for the newer model or should I just stick with the 5442?

I also attached a picture of the site where I plan to install the cameras for reference.

I am grateful for every tip.

Regards,
viertausend

stay with 5442-S3.. at night it will switch to IR and will work..

5459 is a hybrid camera - can work both in color mode (with white light) and IR mode. But it has worse image quality at night in comparison to 5442-S3..

there is a long thread:
we hoped that this will be very good cam line, but for now (with actual firmware/problems) it is not...

maybe in future if Dahua will fix a long list of problems...

The 5442 is the current go-to camera series. Its proven and relatively bug free.
It does not have onboard white LED's
At night you would run in IR mode unless you leave a lot of lights on and then it may be possible to run color

The New IL and PRO series (very similar) has fancier AI in theory and a brighter but less clear image.
It has onboard white LEDs so you could use them to run in color at night, though limited in reality as to distance.
While we havent tested that model specifically, I suspect it will have the same issues as the PRO as they use similar new AI and a lesser quality sensor.
Bright but noisy and not as good of an image when you go to pull a snapshot of a moving person

I would recommend the 5442 series
