Hi
I have a few cameras on a remote connection using a vpn. I can connect to local cameras using BI no problem
However, trying to connect to a Hikvision camera (1 of many) on the VPN does not work. The port number is essential as using iVMS I have to explicitly insert a port number in the config to view the camera (it works) ,how to do same on BI please ?
Thanks

I am no expert on VPN's but perhaps you could explain your VPN setup, is it a VPN set up using your router or a separate VPN device or are you using vpn client software like OpenVPN connect, and is the VPN configured as an extension of you home Lan or does the remote site have it's own subnet?

Hi
Thanks for your response.
I too am no VPN guru.
On site there is a Mikrotik HAP router connecting to the site's internet connection on one port and the camera (via PoE) on another port.
The VPN (Open VPN me thinks) then connects to a VPN server and I in turn connect to the VPN server to get the camera image.
Hope that makes sense !?

If you are running the OpenVPN connect client it is a single dedicated link from your PC to the VPN device on the remote network, Is the BI software running on your PC or is it a standalone PC. If the BI software is on a separate PC then it will not be able to use the VPN link from your PC? Not sure if I am understanding how your end is configured?

OK this is how it should work:
1. IP Camera on port 2 of Mikrotik router
2. Internet feed on port 3 of Mikrotik router
3. The Mikrotik router has a OVPN connection connecting to VPN server
4. I view using Hik Connect or iVMS-4200 using vpn ip,specific port number (depends on camera number ,there are 60) ,username: xxxx Device password: yyyyy

Hope that makes sense ?
Thanks

Is the BI system running on your PC if not then would it not need to run the vpn software to make the connection to the remote site,?
Where is the vpn server located (on your local network or is it part of the remote network)
I am still trying to understand were all the pieces are?
