    Version 6

The back-end stuff is probably 10x easier to port than the front-end stuff. Just count how many dialog boxes exist throughout the Console; those would all have to be re-created from scratch in any OS other than Windows. But the video processing and database logic is probably all straight...

    Version 6

I'm not seeing this: Do I need to be up to 5.9.9.9999999 before I can do a direct update to 6? And we're up to 6.0.0.1 already! Is it soup yet? Or should I wait a few more bug fixes? edit: updated screen capture to show active support contract.

    Pickleball/Tennis "Line Judge" CPAI?

I found another project using YOLO, but it's using phone cameras: https://github.com/clssmitty/PBLineCaller

    Pickleball/Tennis "Line Judge" CPAI?

I was wondering whether this would be possible with low-cost IP cameras and BI, and I found this project from 2014: https://github.com/andreynech/linejudge That was done with Intel Edison boards and their associated camera modules. Cameras and compute have come so far since then, so it seems...

    Vigilant Solutions VSR-60-02MP1 IP Camera IPC262ER9-X10DU 24V, 1.5A, 50/60Hz.

Here's a silly experiment I ran: I am considering putting a pickleball court in my backyard, and I wondering whether these cameras could be of any use as "line judge" cameras, e.g. to determine whether a ball is in or out using instant replay with a iPad and BI. Then I found out that the max...

But you will need to use the app at least once, to turn on HTTP and other services. Or at least I did with mine, a year+ ago, as it came OOtB without HTTP enabled. But I haven't needed it since.

    BIG Owl on my Trail

4 Coyotes on Thoroughbred Trail 11/22/25 I'm linking to the middle of the video, because there's plenty of less-exciting footage on either side of the link. One has a mild limp. S/he can walk on it, but not run on it.

    BIG Owl on my Trail

Adult Coyote Howling with Juvenile 11/13/25 I cut out some dead air, so the rabbit was never that close to getting eaten. And I need to fix the mic gain to get rid of that annoying clipping. But when they're this loud it sounds like they're in my bedroom!

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

When I updated to .99, my actual performance suffered, not the reported CPU usage. In fact my reported CPU usage didn't change at all, but scrub/seek performance was unusable until I reverted back to .96.

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

My seek/scrub/playback performance also went massively downhill with .99, although oddly enough, my reported CPU usage didn't go up. But this is in UI3, so maybe the CPU usage reporting isn't as accurate. In any case I reverted back to .96, and now everything is good again. Will wait for 6.0.1.

Review- New Design Tendelux 10 Watt IR illuminator.

I have a very similar unit, too, from the same manufacturer. It's been working fine since January 2021. It stopped working a few months ago, but I traced that to a bad DC power coupler, and now it's working again. But the mounting solution is clunky. I vastly prefer the square Tendelux models...

    5.9.9 - January 17, 2025 - More Pre-6.0 feature releases

I don't think it's a big deal today, but I suspect its importance will grow over time: CPU-agnosticism is, in general, a good thing, if done properly. In the best cases, there is no CPU-specific code in the code base, which makes it easier to subsequently compile the code later for other...

    BIG Owl on my Trail

Those cameras have been there for awhile, and they're the older Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW models. I have at least one of the newer Amcrest IP5M-T1277EW-AI units lying around, and those have far better performance at night. I also have an IPC-T24IR-AS AndyCam, but I haven't swapped everything out...

5 Coyotes on Thoroughbred Trail 11/02/25 I haven't seen 5 together since the pups were little. In fact I thought only 2 pups had survived. But here we are, with a stable population. Any guesses as to which ones are adults, yearlings, and this year's pups?

Football field security -- camera layout/design

At one end of the spectrum: "Mr. Skip Jones, father of Chip Jones, quarterback, see that camera up there? It's recording, so don't do anything stupid." At the other end: "If it please the court, this 100x zoomed video clearly shows that Mr. Skip Jones is not wearing his contact lenses, and...

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

Yes, their marketing is utter crap, and bordering heavily on fraudulent, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Their doorbell cameras are a good value, and I've been using my PTZ BeeCamera for nearly 7.5 years, although not without issues. I've replaced a few of my Reolink turrets...

New Reolink Wired POE Doorbell Cam ?

I haven't used any Ubiquti cameras before; do they play nicely with BI and other 3rd-party NVR/NVR software? I know some Ubiquit stuff (but not all) likes to be closed-system. Those product pages are silent on RTSP/ONVIF.

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

You may be able to both 1) test a new camera with the Reolink NVR and 2) test the new camera with BI. Depending on how your network and NVR are set up you may also be able to do the same with all of your existing cameras.

I'm not suggesting that you want to access the RLN8-410 from the BI PC; I'm suggesting that you want to access the cameras from both the RLN8-410 and from the BI PC. An easy way to check is to attach any old laptop or PC to the POE ports of the NVR and see if you get an IP address. If yes, then...

Newbie here, coming from dreaded Reolink. Educate me

Depending on which NVR model you have, it looks like you can run cameras from both the NVR and from a BI PC. From their setup guide, Method 3: if you plug a camera into the POE Switch instead of directly into the NVR, it should be accessible from both. If I'm reading that correctly.
