Best practice for I Frames setting based on FPS

Just getting my head around I Frames in terms of impact on video. Lets just keep it simple for now lol So I have a 1080p empiretech with 264 encoding and I have the FPS at 20 and I Frames at 40. This is probably wrong but I understand it like this? For each 40 frames an I frame is inserted to...

Oh thank god , Thanks wittaj... And no, I didnt touch anything else in the camera for that very reason. BTW I am on a demo version of BI but the Reolink never missed a beat. After pulling my hair out all day I switched to two other Vikylin cameras and I cant get thier IVS to to send an onvif...

    Empiretech camera Onvif alert types?

The camera is working perfectly and recording events properly to the SD card. Followed everyones instructions, read on line for days and the camera WILL NOT send any onvif messages to blue iris regarding IVS. Going to set up a test jig in my shop and start from scratch tomorrow. I will post...

    Empiretech camera Onvif alert types?

I set it up as described but the event is still labled Motion_A in BI clips. The camera is detecting each rule correctly in the playback on the camera from the SD card. There is probably something I am missing here, again the objective eventally would be to tie in these events into home...

    Empiretech camera Onvif alert types?

Ah, that makes sense now. So the target filter for each rule is specific, one for car and one for person. OK, I was planning on using the Onvif triggers for home automation if my brain doesnt melt first. Thank you....

    Empiretech camera Onvif alert types?

Sorry, just getting my test rig setup and still learning. I have a Reolink (uggh) camera that alerts specific types of Onvif triggers to BI (RED) but the Empiretech only sends a motion A alert as shown in the pictures below. Here is the BI setting Should it specify human in the Onvif...

Subscription event 00002efd on Vikylin camera.

I got my BI test unit up and running but I am having a problem with one camera getting ONVIF alerts. I have tried the usual with authentication off in BI and camera but I must be missing something. Here are a few shots of BI. The funny thing is the best triggers so far is from my dam reolink camera.

Will this PC run BI well enough to get familiar with the basics?

I have a Lenovo tower with the following specs. I-5 6500 , 16G, 1050TI 4G, 500g SSD, 2TB Skyhawk. Cameras, (1)-2MP@25fps, (2)–4MP@25fps, (1)-5MP@25fps. Used for monitoring the road in front of my rural property. Would like to record only vehicles that pass and easily review each day. All...

    PTZ425DB-AT 4MP 25x Starlight VRS Z12E S2

I recieved my Z1S2 and I like it a lot. My question is how would the 425DB perform compared with the Z12E in the following situation. Objective capture vehicle details enough to identify type and maybe see some information of the driver. Distance 300' Daytime only. 35 degree shot of object. With...

OMG Another example of how bad some cameras are at night.

Cloaked porch pirate Using a new stealth suit now. Reolink 810. Not mine but thought it was kind of funny. Good example of how you should test things out before you need the footage.

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Recieved my EmpireTech Z12E S2 and am impressed with the image clarity right out of the box. Its nice to see detail without motion blur like my other crap cams. Thanks for the suggestions. :iloveipct:

Newbie questions regarding camera specs and functions.

After further research I found enough information to formulate a rough plan. Back in 2000 I had a pretty high teck system with capture cards, argus NVR, IR beams , PTZ's, LPR camera, illuminators and spotlights tied into the argus system. Then I moved to the property and replaced it all with a...

Newbie questions regarding camera specs and functions.

First off, is there a thread somewhere for noobs that has a quick explanation of what each spec is or does? I looked through the WIKI and didn’t see anything. I am looking at the EmpireTech PTZ425DB-AT and have a few quick questions. Alarm I/O 2/1. Thinking these low current relays can be used...

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Yup, I was upgrading from a 24 cam AHD system to IP and got suckered in by the half way good person/vehicle detection and alerts. Before I realized the quality issues I had 2 – duo4k, 5 – E1 outdoor 5mp, 3 – 420 5mp, 2 – 510 wa, and 2 – 811A. Uggh Its not a total loss yet, I will probably use...

    Wood-like Enclosure for LPR Camera?

Last for a year or two in my neck of the woods. Important to make good contact as it isnt as flexible at duck tape. I fould more smaller pieces cut to fit gives you good adhesion. I blends in so well I once lost a roll on my bench for ten minutes lol

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Wow, that triple sight looks great for 2mp. I guess a good quality 2mp sensor is better than a crap 5mp sensor any day. Looks like the onboard AI and triggers are robust as well. My eyes are opening lol Thanks...

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

Thanks for the suggestion. The B521 looks interesting. Only 2mp but big lens. Would like to stay with 4mp or more if possible. As for IR, I usually disable IR on cameras and use area illuminators or security lighting where possible. Eliminates spider webs, flying bugs, rain and snow at night...

    Wood-like Enclosure for LPR Camera?

I have used the Duct tape camo tape and it blends in pretty well. The one that looks like the forest background. Play with the location to get the best blending into the enviroment. I have found that close or in the crux of the branch is better than on the more uniform pattern of the trunk or...

Challenging camera use case, Is it possible under $1,000

The objective is to monitor a mailbox with enough detail to identify the vehicle as it stops and drives away. The challenge is the camera is 300’ away from the target area. I have been using a Reolink 811A 4K with 5x zoom but as we know their image quality is not applicable to this type of...

Static IP setup , Camera, router, or both?

I am just starting to investigate BI and starting to understand how hardware intensive it is when AI is utilized. For this use case there will be no remote access needed, for now lol. I have a master spreadsheet as well with all devices, pw's, mac, model, spec, etc. Has saved me a few times...

I want to reduce/eliminate issues with my cameras and other devices on my dedicated network especially after a power interuption. Which would be the better option, on the camera, in the router, or both? Basic layout of my network as of now. There is one router going to a managed switch with 6...
