Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Yea, your examples have been great ... for instance, LOL that you too are "Pigpen from Peanuts with a dust cloud" behind 'ya! ;-) Plus your stuff and others are much more representative of typical use cases versus my "scene" shots. And LOL I obsess over the Pixel-Peeping! ;-) I wasn't...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

What do you think of the COLOR video? Below is a GIF of them with the two JPEG's pulled from the video. The 54PRO blows away the 5442 - especially in static content. Not just brightness/color, but look at the sharpness of the shirt/bag in the driveway, the trees to the right and across the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I did look briefly at the on-board IR ... but I'm very confident that it's not as powerful as the 10-Watt Tendelux DI10 ... and for THIS SCENE, I need all the light I can get ... plus widely dispersed. Obviously for close-in-work, you want the onboard light to "work with" the camera ... but I'm...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

BTW, back to the Tendelux IR Illuminators, I agree with others that the light distribution seems pretty even. In fairness, my situation is "best case" ... as it is mounted at the top of the house ... so it's a "long" distance to the target which reduces "distance squared" issues ... and looks...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Oh what the heck, here's the videos. Again, this is an unfair test as it is wayyyy too dark. Please read the explanation/disclaimers about this REALLY DARK scene in my earlier post ... where I closed with "I think they reinforce what I've said that the static content is better with the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Since we are currently talking about IR illuminators in this thread, I'm kinda reluctant to post a T54PRO-ZE versus 5442-S3 comparison (maybe more appropriate in the other one) ... but here are the images above combined into an animated GIF without and with IR light. Please read the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

So @wittaj asked the very good question of (basically) what is the existing light at a "reasonable" shutter speed of 1/120s ... since the first thing photographers do is look at what we have to work with ... and then decide how much "light we want to bring to the party" This is a DARK SCENE ...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

In answer to the question of where I mounted the Tendelux DI10 IR light, a picture is worth a thousand words. Having said that, if you look carefully, you'll see a "triangle" pattern of holes drilled a little further back from the edge of the roofline. There is where I originally put it ... but...

    WOW ... I stand corrected ... that's a pretty sharp license plate!

    B54PRO-Z4E first impression

Is that a @tmxv4128 image enhancement on the license plate?!? As someone who fiddled with LPR cameras several years ago for our HOA, the plates really do "light up" with an IR illuminator ... and if there is LPR processing on the camera, it may further enhance it (plus put the the...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Here's a pic just after I installed the DI10 ... the middle of the driveway is about 50 feet away from the camera ... so while this is lit up decently (albeit slow shutter speed with lots of gain/NR - still fiddling with the 5442-S3), more light is always better. I don't "really" need to light...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I believe the field-of-view is basically the same for both - right? I've debated getting the bigger DI20 ... I don't expect it to turn night into day (in the IR spectrum) ... but in your experience, is it a LOT more that ends up making a significant difference?

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Average annual snowfall here is almost 100" ... but we get a lot of sun, so the non-shady parts melt down. Didn't mean to imply it's just about "pretty pictures" ... since yea, gotta be able to capture movement ... and you/others have done some great testing in that area. As you well know, the...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

@EMPIRETECANDY Agreed that the 54PRO is warmer (both are set to Auto White-Balance) and I like that look. Ditto that I too see more details on the trees and foliage in throughout the picture - might be some AI processing going on there(?) as these can be very difficult for sharpening...

Roger all that @bigredfish ... and sorry if I traumatized you with the snowy picture ... better not scroll down! ;-) As implied, I don't consider this a good test of cameras ... but I couldn't wish attempting some humor saying WTF with all the (white) noise in the video ... I just mounted...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

So here's a "snowy" comparison between the T54PRO-ZE (running 11/27FW) and 5442-S3. They are vertically separated by just less than a foot ... and I've tried to frame them similarly. Both have same parameters of 10 msec shutter, 100 iris, 0 gain, 0 2D/3D NR (and toggled OFF). As you can see in...

Speaking of the 5442 ... and sorry if I missed someone pointing it out ... but @EMPIRETECANDY has new firmware for the "IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3" on his website that was uploaded in mid-November. I'm currently running "V3.142.15OG003.0.R, Build Date: 2024-12-21" ... with the new "IPC" file saying...

Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Sorry if I missed seeing somebody saying this ... but did the "Gain Scale" get "reset" moving from the 1028 to 1127 firmware? The reason I asked is on 1028, if you went above 65, the noise rapidly became OMG bad. However, with 1127, I'm not seeing it near as bad ... even when set to 100...

Thanks for clarifying @bigredfish ... as I just double-checked the T540PRO-ZE ... and the System Info page is IDENTICAL (i.e. "V3.146.0000000.0.R, Build Date: 2025-10-28" and everything else) to what you posted, except, of course, the "Device Model" is a T54PRO-ZE ... but under AI->IVS->Global...

Sorry I forgot about your post @bigredfish ... but that's from the very latest 11/27 firmware - right? FYI that I have another T54PRO-ZE still running the 10/28 FW and under AI->IVS->Global Config, it does NOT have that option at the top to enable "Large-Scale AI models"

Just noticed this minor change/update - under AI->IVS->Global Config, there are some new options at the bottom of the page to set the image resolutions/control type/level Perhaps waayyy more interesting is that there is an option at the top to enable "Large-Scale AI models"

Thanks for info/DM @EMPIRETECANDY ... I'm traveling, so will probably wait a few days before updating. Can you please provide more info about the difference between the Dahua "4" release (Release notes says 11/11/20225 and the sizes are 120/730MBytes) versus your 11/27 release (123/746MBytes).

I don't know if the order makes any difference, but I happen to load the DH_IPC... file first and then firmware.bin I know some people recommend resetting to factory default (three times) ... but I did it in-place and worked every time and my various settings were saved.
