Nice to see so many good changes.

Can´t wait for BI 6.0 using local GPU for inference and detection ! I can´t stand anymore messing with Ollama etc.

I just want BI to select the model and process things accordingly

[5.9.9.60] Remote management update to add desktop frame windows for connected servers, allowing you to monitor multiple locations simultaneously via the desktop client. Right-click on the Status/Remote list to find this option. Right-click in the desktop frame to select a camera group and to enable audio. This will be updated to include status display options as well.

Can anyone else verify that the time lapse feature is broken when trying to export a clip? 5.9.9.60 Mine is just greyed out, and fiddling with it I can get it checked somehow, but it does not work.
 
Never mind, I did get it to work, but the options are acting goofy. At first the check box was greyed out. Now I can't reproduce that lol

[5.9.9.61] Remote management now allows for a local camera frame window when the UI is connected to a remote server. There have been efficiency improvements as well to allow for much quicker UI transition between servers.

[5.9.9.67] Beginning with this version, we are moving to logging changes into the file “changelog.rtf” found in the Blue Iris 5 program files folder. Development will now maintain a much more verbose account of software changes going forward.

Excellent improvement! You will want to add a link to this file on your desktop!

  • Potential fix for crash occurring when closing clips on the hour; please report "clip.close left at x" posts to status/log.
  • MQTT option to publish occasional messages as a "keep alive" for brokers who do not honor standard methods
  • Fast switching to triggered camera/s when using that stream cycle option remotely; now operates just as the console does
  • Right-click Clip list/Database option to turn off the auto-display of the DB status window in the event of DB errors
  • Tweak to the algorithm responsible for assigning license plates to vehicle objects and then selecting the best-fit image for final alert image
  • During "finalizing import" step a call to registry key rename is used instead of copy, making this orders of magnitude faster for large settings files
  • A determination to be more granular with code change logging!

I've found one change to the Help PDF that was not mentioned in the new RTF file.

I asked for this change. I needed it for my new BI_overlay_tool Powershell script that I'll be sharing soon. It modifies video overlays programmatically via the registry. The HTTP command was needed to make overlay tweaks appear instantly instead of after a camera restart.

This change was actually implemented in 5.9.9.52 (May 2025), but was not formally documented in the Help PDF until the current update 5.9.9.67.

This is excellent. I don't know why he was convinced to finally do it, since many of us have been asking for more detailed release notes for years and years, but I'll take it! :)

What's your preferred app to read .rtf on Windows 11?
I'm curious to see how he'll format the rtf as entries are added, and hope it will be easily parsed by scripts/automation. I would think a plain .txt would be more friendly, but I should be happy we have this at all!

I'm curious as well. If the file is created anew each update, then I'll need to run a script to archive it after each update. Similar to this one for the Help PDFs.

UPDATE: (8/8/2025) V3 now supports Blue Iris changelog.pdf files, now that Ken has changed the format of the changelog file (as of 5.9.9.68)

I just went ahead and updated my Blue Iris Help PDF file auto-archiving batch script (V2 attached).

Please note:
1. The script is hardcoded to save a version-tagged version of the both the Help PDF and changelog.rtf in 3 locations. Edit the code the suit your routines.
2. Before you can use the script, you also need to install a 3rd-party utility called 'Sigcheck' (Sigcheck - Sysinternals). The script uses it to extract the version number from the Blue Iris executable.

When the script is executed via a double-click from windows explorer, you should see a popup window like this.

• A first push into the HA (Home Automation) space by adding support for Sonoff (eWeLink) switches set for DIY mode, such as the Basic4 or R2/3/4 models. Possible support for Zigbee as well to come with 6.x. Use the new “HA Devices…” button on Settings/Digital IO and IoT to manage these.
• An “On reset” action set has been added to the Motion/Trigger page in cam settings. This makes it easy to reset something that was set during the “On trigger” action set, even if there is no alert or it was canceled. Think, a flood light that might come on for recording, regardless of an AI person alert confirmation.

Fixed
• The state of multiple camera DIO outputs is now more properly managed for On/Off/Toggle functionality (previously only output 1 was considered)

Changed
• The “Set DIO bits” action has been changed to “DIO bits or HA switch”. In addition to global DIO and camera DIO, you may now specify an HA switch as configured on Settings/DIO/HA switches.
• The duration set on “DIO bits or HA switch” is now specified in milliseconds. New special duration values are defined--0=Off, 1=On, -1=Toggle
• As RTF/WordPad has been deprecated and the .MD file format requires special software on Windows, this changelog will now be provided as a PDF.

• The ability to do asynchronous export from the timeline view, creating clipboard objects. Select MP4 to mark it for immediate export, or select BVR to allow it to exist as a bookmark into the timeline prior to export. This was a required first step before timeline export can be added to the JSON "export" functionality.

• Export window filename issue corrected as introduced by 5.9.9.70 bug. This led to some users seeing "Unsupported I/O format" popups.
• Clipboard items (prior to export) removed from the timeline

Changed
• The clipboard view will not be filtered by group/camera for now for Admin users to allow for timeline objects to remain visible regardless of group selection. These objects belong to "groups" and not a camera, so there is no associated DB view for them.

Added
• A new camera make/model type "Blue Iris" provides access to the streaming methods as used by the client apps and UI3. You might use this when streaming from one Blue Iris system into another rather than relying on the other video methods such as RTSP or HLS. This will also automatically select the Blue Iris PTZ control setting and should work with 2-way audio as well.

Fixed
• Although zones may have been disabled, zone crossing was still considered if the box was checked. This prevented triggering.
• The previous Blue Iris PTZ control implementation may not have always worked properly to parse the camera name from the video URL.

Changed
• Requests to /file, /time, /h264 or /video made without proper authentication will now fail with a 403 response rather than being redirected to the login page. To access these endpoints, you should authenticate a session using the methods outlined in the Help, switch to basic (plaintext) authentication, or specifically exempt the calling IP address/es. The future addition of more standard "digest" authentication may be offered.
• Previously enforced with frames rates less than 2 fps, the software will now impose a minimum playback speed of 1fps on a recording. This will cause the video to playback faster than realtime (timelapse). Rather than extended pauses between frames, this provides a better UI experience.
