No source is perfect.
The difference is that real news outlets usually verify things with multiple sources before reporting them. Social media posts and aggregators often just repeat claims.
If something major really happened, it usually ends up reported by several independent outlets, not just circulating online.

It's a shame when you can't believe the news, pictures, video, etc... Heck, I've seen what even "I" can make with AI. My family loves what I can come up with using AI. Personally, it is one of the few things that I actually DO find scary...

Social media accounts and aggregators don’t really have that layer of verification. I don’t fully trust major outlets either, but at least their reporting can usually be traced and checked.

So for me, if something that big happened and six days later none of the major outlets are reporting it, that usually means the claim isn’t accurate. And unfortunately, once something spreads online, a lot of people take it as truth even if it’s never verified.

But most of those examples actually prove the point. The stories were investigated further, challenged, and corrected over time. That doesn’t really happen with random social media posts.
It’s not about trusting everything the media says, it’s about having something that can be checked and questioned.
Show me one major news outlet that is reporting the Hospital story.
