Other than a couple EmpireTech cams on Amazon I haven't been able to find any that aren't so stupidly priced that I can't see anybody buying them ($2699.99 for a 5mp dome cam? Gimmie a break). There are none on eBay. All the others are found are grossly over priced and being sold by "Dealers". There's a brand out there called "DahuaSecurity (all one word) but they are obviously not Dahua. Either dahua went belly up or they're hiding their cams. Andy, where are you?

I'm concerned prices going to only go up from here-on
In 48 hours his camera prices will be going up 15% to 30% encroaching Ubiquiti territory. What was $175 for a 5442 Varifocal camera yesterday will go up in excess of $220 tomorrow :( or even higher

If you need cameras, the 5442 is the standard, tried and true for the last 7 years! Literally, almost 7 years - they were first conceived in 2019
This guy has 1 left for $115 shipped

Dahua Technology (Dahua Security) does not sell directly to installers or end users.
Dahua cameras should only be available through authorised distributors OR through OEM rebranding.

Online platforms AliExpress/eBay/Banggood, etc are typically 'grey market' products that are unauthorised distribution channels.

So wait...are you "The" one and only Andy?

No. I'm technical support for a regional Dahua office.
I've been a long time IPCT user (before I joined Dahua). I made this 2nd account to keep my views/banter separate from my personal IPCT account.

Replying to myself to remind everyone that in addition to higher prices, don't expect any big sales event like in previous years :(

Looks like it's time for me to abandon Dahua and go with another brand. It makes no sense to me that a company would pick and chose who it sells it's products to, especially when it chooses to eliminate to majority of the buying public. But what do I know.

Goodbye Dahua.

Um, that has been their business model from the very beginning....

We have just been fortunate enough to get our hands on these better cameras thru resellers like Empiretech and others.

It is just now the "ban" has made it harder for resellers to sell Dahua. Dahua will sell to anyone willing to buy enough in quantity to be a reseller, but the resellers have decided not to take the chance.

We still have Empiretech and most will continue to buy from him as long as the Dahua cams continue to provide the best bang for the buck.

Depends how much longer he will be able to source products from Dahua and at what price. He has to make a profit too to keep business alive otherwise it would not make sense from a business model . In less than 24 hours, new pricing takes effect and its going to suck for many, and in this market, prices never go back down. Inflation is the new normal. And yes...AI is to blame partly. Even Laptop brands are going the rental route (take HP for example). We already got a preview of planned obsolescence; now everything with a chip is disposable, including cars.

I was even told that the typical lifespan of IP cameras is 5-6 years and this is based on information aggregated from older models like the pre S3/S2 5442 models and 5231 models. God only knows how long these new camera models will really last.

Built in AI within cameras is legitimately BS even if it offloads CPU and memory usage to an extent. WE really have to appreciate the Blue Iris developers for keeping our older models alive.

Let's see how long Dahua can actually sustain this approach, now that they're marketing their "budget" line (e.g., Picco or, more recently, the "Wireless Series") under their own Dahua name (again), instead of under some other subsidiary label like Imou..

If the buyer/end user doesn't have access to the products it's not a very sound business model. Such as in my case, Dahua lost the opportunity to make future sales. I'm sure I'm not the only one. as for what their intent is, I couldn't care less.

The end user for Dahua's business model still has access to their cameras.

Us homeowners have never been their intended end-user and we were and have been buying from resellers. That has not changed.

We still have access to the OEM via Empiretech. His competition has shrank tremendously since other resellers don't wanna buy in bulk and get left holding the bag if folks like us get scared away from the "ban".

Unless you were paying the 5times outlandish prices to buy from an authorized US Dahua installer? Yeah in that case you will be getting Luminys cams.
