Ask Baby First: Experts Say Diaper Changes Need ‘Consent’

Having been the parent to only 1 child, now a 45 year old woman, by no means do I think I am an expert nor do I feel like I did everything right....we just did our best based on circumstances and what we knew at the time. That said, I do recall her teenage years.....and also recall wishing it wasn't frowned upon to put her in a dog crate........with food, water and a tinkle pad, of course....when her face displayed that teen scowl, accompanied by a deep exhale, eyeball rolling and teeeth sucking when asked to finsih her homework or pick up her room.

I can relate, we have 2 daughters and I was overwhelmed with love for them when they were young, but when they started growing and didn't want to talk to me or even be seen with me it was painful. Those teenage years are a challenge to deal with. I'm sure I was a pain in the ass in my teenage years too.

I grew up with "Wait till your father gets home" Sure enough, Dad after working a hard shift would get an ear full and then take out his frustrating day on me and my brother. Mom worked to. Now that I look back I was a pain teen too. I would give anything even to just get one more belting from my Dad, he passed in 2020...

Karma, or what ever you want to call it, my son was just like me as a teen. I had to learn the hard way, so did he. Funny but thinking about it, I still question everything and have to try it myself to see if it is true...

I am going thru it with my 17 year old daughter mostly, but my 13 year old certainly has her moments as well!
