Dahua WizColor 5x59-PRO and SmartLight 5x59-IL new series

Mine replaced one of my free lotto cams (IPC-T3449TM) that was fine for day, but night wasn't that good. But I never complain about something I got for free. Anyway, here is the before and after swap pics. I of course have a clip of me in my pajamas walking out and it triggered perfect and the warm Leds came on and it looked awesome, but no way in hell am I posting that. Sooner or later, I will find another person or cat for an example. :lmao: Keep in mind this is right out of the box, I have not touched anything other than trip wires and fps/bitrate.

3449 TIOC or 3449 TIOC-PRO?

if TIOC-PRO (with 1/1.8" sensor), then there shouldn't be that difference..

TIOC-PRO have the same AI-ISP / always active HDR technology. Probably something was wrong configured..

I have 5442 S3s varifocal. I'd like to try the IPC-Color4k-T but how do I use my current varifocals to determine whether I need 2.8mm or 3.6mm? I have a couple of varifocals slightly zoomed in, so does that mean 3.6mm? The rest would be 2.8mm obviously.

triggering other channels is for PTZ cams..
never saw this to trigger multiple recordings/activate alarm outputs/smart lights etc..

if you want to have full house lights/alarms activated by each camera, you have ALARM-OUT output on 5xxx NVRs - where you can connect small relay and turn-on any lights/alarm installation over it.

You can activate this output by any cam (IVS event etc)......

you’re right that in older Dahua NVRs, “triggering other channels” was mostly used for PTZ actions like presets or tours.

But with the newer Dahua WizMind cameras and 5xxx series NVRs, the Linkage Actions go further. According to the Dahua NVR User Manual V1.0.0 (2025), Chapter 6.1.3 Alarm Settings and 6.2.1 Alarm Event Settings, an IVS event (like Tripwire) can trigger:
• Recording on multiple channels
• Alarm-Out outputs (as you mentioned, for relays/lights/alarms)
• Audio/Light warnings on other cameras (Smart Dual Light, siren, etc.)

So yes – with the current generation, a single Tripwire event can cascade across several cameras and outputs, not just PTZ moves.

So far running mine in auto, self adaptive, but will play once I finish/tweak the install today and further adjust the camera angle.

Since this is a new install location in the front looking right (5th camera, now 2nd in front) I can't compare exactly but late yesterday and last night it was picture perfect compared to the existing front camera on the other side (right looking left).

Ordered two more last night, to start replacing the others, direct replacements. The first replacement will be the existing non-S3 5442 in the front (other side), then probably the backyard 5231, followed later by the two 5231's on the left and right sides of the house.

Hopefully these first lots last long term, I wonder if I should wait a little before replacing all five in case they tweak the hardware after the first batch.

The wiring harness certainly had alot of unused cabling here, I just need the Ethernet, I taped every wire in black electrical tape and stuffed them into the soffit junction box. The other four will all be PRB2230W's.

Nice to see it tracking people and cars when viewing thru the camera directly, though my NVR is Synology. Expecting IVS tripwires to now be perfect. No birds, squirrels, cars, shadows, ...

All great so far.

For those interested, here's the Firmware versions after applying the 9/28/2025 (uploaded on 10/3/2025) updates from Andy's website - changes highlights in BOLD.

BTW, I did see the option under Maintenance Center->Update->File Update to "Select Folder" rather than just "Select File" ... and it "asked" about uploading the two files ... but then it said not supported ... so I did one a time ... which does a reboot each time. Was super-simple/uneventful.

Mine is up and running. Set it up next to my 4k cam to compare for the moment. Thinking about keeping them both up and using the PRO more for end of driveway, sidewalk & mailbox coverage.

Two things...
1) I can't remember how to, or if it's even possible, to set up e-mail notification while running video metadata, for notification of persons.
2) How does one turn on/off the alarm notifications? Such as "You are under surveillance". I don't want these to be on for the driveway, but if/when I get another one I might turn them on for the back deck/lawn.

Thanks

2. Do you mean when someone crosses the line or runs into the area? You can remove it under Ivs.

I'm trying to use video metadata. I just like how it performs better, and the ability to look up things easier with the Dahua NVR. At least for me.

So far things look pretty good. Running a 0-4 exposure (compared to 0-.75 exposure on my 4k cam). In color btw.

Just received the new cam via UPS, and the good news is that the driver didn't throw it over the fence this time. Opened the box and was surprised to see power cables instead of paper or styrofoam pellets padding the inside. Can't ever have too many power cables, but I am wondering...WHY? ha ha

I got 4 power cords. Am I the high point winner?
Too bad I already have more of these than I know what to do with. I think using gold coins for filler would have been more efficient.

I tied 'ya at 4 power cords per my unboxing video ... but yea, WTF @EMPIRETECANDY, how come no gold coins for those place the first orders for the camera?!? ;-)

So I futzed around with the new "toy" for quite some time tonight - very straightforward to setup and menu's are very similar to the 5442-S3.

Overall, the T54PRO-ZE definitely seems to be an improvement over the 5442-S3 (I want to do additional testing before I say more) ... but curious if anyone seems to find the auto-focus SLOWER in low-light situations (color mode, no on-board illumination) ... and it actually sometimes goes the wrong way and gets "stuck" with a totally blurry image. Needless to say, the iris is at 100% for maximum light collection.

Below is the "target" (my front yard/driveway/street) as seen from the 5442-S3. Note there are several areas of decent contrast and everything is moderate distance - should be fairly easy focus.

And yes, I took the plastic film off (LOL!) and carefully cleaned the glass - all looks good from what I can see and camera is factory fresh with no signs of damage (power cord packing peanuts for the WIN!) and per previous post, it was a routine upgrade to the latest firmware directly from Andy's website.

BTW, I don't know if it's relevant, but when I'm about 3/4's tele zoomed in (1800 on the "Zoom & Focus" which seems to go to ~2400), the Focus is almost all the way to the right at ~2,900 and it only goes to about 3,050. In fact, when I zoom in all the way, I can't get the image in focus even when I manually push it all the way to the right.

Is there a chance something is a bit out of adjustment on the camera I got?

Auto focus works best at day. At night you need floodlight, then its working good.

If it doesnt work manually then something seems not good with your cam.

Unsharpness on this model with color@night can have several reasons.
So try day picture first.

Yep ... and (to no surprise), focus is much snappier as I just setup it up and the sun is rising. But as someone who has had a 5442-S3 for quite some time (and had them side-by-side last night looking at the same scene), the T54PRO-ZE was noticeably slower (and struggled much more) to auto-focus in low light. I had it just lying on the balcony railing ... so maybe when I get it mounted later today, things will improve(?)

lol, the shipping way need to reach 1.5kg minimum, so we throw some NVR cables in it to make the shipment going through.^^

So far I'm still running self adaptive. I started to tweak last night but it got very dark. My picture has been fairly perfect with all the defaults so far. Will have more time now to experiment.

If you want to use manual mode, you should use the official 0731 firmware.

On the 0928 firmware it will be dark in manual mode. There are some reasons for this. For most situations auto mode should work best... day/night/infrared/white led

On this cam you will lose the p-iris auto feature on any firmware when using manual mode. P-iris auto is used for overexposure control, so you might have some near field situations where people are too overexposed. This is nearly impossible to control in manual mode with fixed iris.

It depends all on scene and mounting. Cannot be generalized.
