Getting comfortable
My mistake, I entered the name and came across this 180 camera. You meant this camera, right? ?IPC-Color4K-T is dahua, and a fixed 2.8mm lens. Why 180?

I asked before if I can update the camera with Dahua's latest firmware as EmpireTek doesn't seem to update the camera's firmware at all. But this is not possible. It uploads the file but after that it shows this message : "Update package invalid and update failed. Device will restart immediately. "
As it is probably impossible for a one person (?) company to maintain all the firmware from all sold devices, I decided only to buy original Dahua products and put this camera back in it's box.
I should have known..If it is too good to be true, it probably is
And I had it with the Bitdefender warnings and actively trying to disinfect the browser plugin.
What feature are you needing from a firmware? This is a Camera not an IoT device that has contestant security updates.I asked before if I can update the camera with Dahua's latest firmware as EmpireTek doesn't seem to update the camera's firmware at all. thx!But from what I see firmwares on Andy site are fresh ones..
And the same I see on Dahua website and two internal Dahua firmware repositories.
You probably downloaded wrong firmware for wrong camera.
Color4K have different firmware for bullet (Color4K-X) and turret (Color4k-T) - Dahua used different chipset for both models.
Or didn't uncompress zip file, which contain *.bin file with firmware.
If You want You can download firmware from original Dahua site:

in the middle You have search box, where You must put full Dahua model name for camera and it will show matching firmwares..
Be aware that there are two versions of IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED - each with different firmware on Dahua website.. For Andy cam You must use Taurus version (not Meta-Taurus)..
The same is with original Dahua cams/NVR..
It's not Andy thing, but general problem with Chinese CCTV companies (both HikVision and Dahua), which didn't migrated to full html5 video streaming and still are using ancient plugin technology.
ps. I am a big proponent of upgrading the firmware to the latest versions (unlike many other users on this forum) but in the case of Color4K I would advise against it. The latest firmware versions released by Dahua have very high digital sharpening and image processing - this causes a lot of digital noise. Older firmware versions generate a more natural image.
I haven't had a problem with the close focus distance, especially if it is adequately illuminated. You should be fine. Here is an example of a 4K-X (6mm) camera that I was setting up, and someone walked 7 feet in front of it. (The 4K-X in 6mm is notorious for not being in focus until 25'+.) He is out of focus, but I think the pic is acceptable. (The telephone pole is 50' away.) I have all three 4K-X cams (2.8mm, 3.6mm, and 6mm, and a 4k-T (2.8mm), and the cameras work great at all distances.Well in my recent random buying spree, I picked up two of these in turret 2.8mm format. Decided why not try them on the two main doorways, covered by additional floodlights. In the real world, is the close focus distance a show stopper compared to the usual suspects. @Wildcat_1 Superb videos makes this seem like less of a problem than it looks on paper. One would be covering a double driveway approximately 25 feet deep and the other a paved patio area approximately 15-20ft wide by 35ft long. I guess if someone walks right up to the door they will be out of focus, realistically even the current 5442 covering these is getting mostly top of someone's head at that close range, although it would be in reasonably good focus.
I really got to stop buying cameras without researching these factswas sucked in by that large sensor and all those mega pickles

As far as the IPC-Color4K-T is concerned, it can make a great overview camera. To steal a Geico phrase when setting up the camera, it's so easy, a caveman could do it. I use the 3.6mm version for my Garage Out overview camera pointed toward the street in front of my house. Video from that camera often makes it to ones I post here and there. It is one of the best cameras Dahua makes and Dahua dropped the ball by not coming out with a varifocal version.
Yep, but softness up close is the price paid for a large aperture and subsequent reduced depth of field. In my experience there is softness inside of 6ft.
