HP EliteDesk G4 SFF Randomly Shutting Down (Crashing)

I have Blue Iris system that randomly crashes / becomes unresponsive. Blue Iris logs show unexpected shutdown with no clear indication of anything going wrong with Blue Iris itself. Windows Event logs also do not show an events prior to becoming unresponsive. Thus I'm guessing either something is going on with the hardware or possibly at the kernel level of Windows 11 (latest version). This issue has been going on for a couple years, but has recently seemingly increased in frequency.

I'm going to pull the system down out of my rack to ensure there is not significant dust build-up inside and that the fans are working properly, but wanted to get advice on other potential troubleshooting steps.

Try this :

Run a RAM health check
Check for Virus ( not thinking this is likely, thus I'd check RAM first )
Check filesystems and DB health

Power Supply going bad?

I was going to ask if this happened only when running BI or it just shuts off after a time running another program especially when taxing the CPU. I've had MANY PC's become so clogged with dust (especially those sitting on the floor where carpet is installed) that they will slow down and eventually shut down. Even had some older ones where the plastic ears that attach to the spring clamps that hold the CPU heatsink to the CPU broke because of long-term heat + tension finally caused one or more to snap, rendering the heatsink almost useless. Even had some CPU thermal compound dry up to the point of almost useless, allowed the CPU temp to rise above the allowed limit.

I don't used canned air or air from a compressor line due to either excess moisture or static...I have a handheld electric blower, kind of a hair dryer on steroids less the heat that blows out PC interior, vent holes, heatsink and fans really well. I hold the fans still while blowing so as to not exceed RPM....and I do NOT try to stop with my finger if I forget to hold them first. I found out early on that a rapidly spinning chassis or CPU fan can cut your fingers!

Thinking there is a possability of power supply issue. Apprecaite the suggestions. Will began running some test and evaluating system.

When i first got one of those for BI, Fenderman linked me a to an intel site to try a different Intel® UHD Graphics 630 driver.
If enabled, try disabling Intel quicksync as the hardware decode for BI.
I had a Intel® UHD Graphics 630 driver change help to stabilize my HP Elitedesk G4-800 SFF
outta the box driver was causing intermittent freezes, ( only when I was gone at home) from the site where PC was and would come to work and find i had recorded nothing overnight and the PC was "wacked out"
I think @tigerwillow has the more coreect/current answer. let it use the generic Windows driver.

I use an elite desk G4 for BI. When I first brought it up a few years ago it had issues crashing. The fix was to get rid of the Intel graphics driver and use the win 10 generic driver.

that might be the trick.

I run my BI on an HP 400 with an i5-6500 CPU.

For BI, things that helped was to disable hardware acceleration within BI for all my cams. Since W11 the vid card drivers haven't really played ball with BI and although I've tried various versions disabling acceleration seems to be the only fix.

Good news is that with sub streams enabled there's hardly any noticeable increase in CPU usage anyway so overall no real loss.

Have you checked the event viewer?
 
Update: ran memory test this morning. No errors there. HA is turned off as I was previously having more and more issues there a couple a years ago and transitioned to sub-streams.

Not sure if it would still be a potential issue with HA turned off, but I will check to see what driver I have installed for the Intel Graphics driver and tinker with that next.
