Direct burial cable recommendation

I ran across the electrical code about keeping low voltage landscape lighting 14-2 in a separate conduit from ethernet cable. I'll put in two conduits ,side-by-side. Code seems to allow that.

Anyway, I received a cable tester today and tested the cable. The continuity test showed a different result each time I ran it. No idea, but I guess the tester isn't great. I also did a length test and it over estimated the length by 25'. What do y'all make of the results in the attached photos?

Nothing intelligent :). I have a cable tester that has a similar looking display and has worked flawlessly for me. Does your's have a "wiremap" box that p[ugs on the far end of the cable? I've never used my tester without that in place.

It has a small receiver that the cable plugs into. I returned it and ordered a different one. We’ll see how it works. I did use it to test other cables and it worked as expected. @Flintstone61 is probably right, cable probably has water in it after being damaged by critters.

Is anybody able to explain how the splitter/combiner above could support Mode B? The only thing I can think of is that the combiner box (box with switch on it) would convert the two Mode B connections from the switch to Mode A before sending its output down a single network wire. It doesn't look like there could be any circuitry in the far end splitter so the cameras would run in Mode A, which would be perfectly OK.

Or stated differently, the combiner box would present Mode A to the cameras, then convert them to Mode B for connection to the switch.

I dig up most of the cable yesterday. At around 150’ i found damage to the cable. I cut the cable on with side of the damage back about 2”. Today I hope to mend it and continue to use it until I get new conduit installed. New cable tester arrives today, hopefully that’ll help confirm the repair is good.

Conduit should be going next week. Digging is starting today. Using the gray conduit with the coupling molded in. Should the conduit be layed with the flared end at the source of where my cable spools will be during the pull? Not sure if it matters for ease of pull, but wanted to check with you guys.

I found it slightly easier to input the cable from the flared end and pull through that direction. ( flared end to smaller end )
