DUTCH GENERAL WARNS: EUROPE MUST PREPARE FOR A MAJOR WAR
Warnings from European military leaderships are becoming increasingly clear.

The top military commander of the Netherlands, General Onno Eichelsheim, stated unequivocally today (October 27, 2026) at the "Future of War Conference":

"We must prepare for a large-scale conflict, even if we cannot say with certainty what it will look like."

Eichelsheim explicitly refers to the war in Ukraine. This shows how quickly military reality can overtake previous assumptions.

As early as early October, the general had warned of an almost existential threat to the Netherlands, for the first time in more than 80 years. He named Russia as the key factor and pointed to sabotage, drones, and cyberattacks.

He also warned of a dangerous window of time until 2030: Europe must massively expand its defense capabilities, while the threat already exists today.

The consequence is clear: Europe's armed forces must become faster, technologically more advanced, and significantly more combat-effective. Drones, air defense, ammunition stockpiles, military logistics, and the ability to quickly adapt to new forms of warfare are gaining decisive importance.

Just a few years ago, a large-scale war in Europe outside of Ukraine was considered hardly imaginable by many. Today, high-ranking NATO military officials are openly discussing how their forces must prepare for precisely this scenario.

This does not mean that a Russian attack on NATO territory is imminent. But it does mean that such a conflict is being treated as a serious scenario by European military leaderships.

Deterrence only works if Europe is credibly capable of defending itself.

Probably nothing, but usually its 2 I'm told

I don’t research the background of individual accounts. That’s typical judging a book by its cover. Hell I wouldn’t post but 1-2 a month :lmao:

I DO research the content.

In this case it can be found on those countries web sites and posts by their own governments on X.

The claim is quite true and there are hundreds of similar posts. I just grabbed one.

It may come as a surprise, but every country, practically every politician and government official, (including the entire US government) posts routinely on X
If one relies on Fox Entertainment, one won’t see 1/100th of the news each day.

It’s easier for many to stay blissfully ignorant ;)

Yup--- The actions of countries are absolutely verifiable-- I liked that part. The speculation is over the top.

Samples

I’m sure they each have their own reasons. (Floods, riots, war, etc)
Odd so many at once, that’s why it’s being discussed a lot

I think I will need to get into the frame-of mind I had in my 14 years in California-- lots of non-perishable food, and about 8 big cases of water on hand at all times in a use-rotation. Concern there was a catastrophic earthquake that leaves you without help for 2 weeks. You must have the same kind of stockpile for a hurricane I assume. Likely good planning all the way around no matter the circumstances.

Yeah, we stay about 3/4 prepped. The past few days I’ve cranked it up.

Last step is a good sized solar generator. Shopping for that now. Gas could become scarce. My gas generator can keep us good for about a week, but the solar will help limit its usage.

We can be self sufficient for about 30 days. Water supply in the backyard helps a lot.

Problem is, unless you’re wayyyyyy out in the sticks, at 3 days the grocery stores are empty. At 5 the natives start foraging.
By week 2 it gets ugly.

Hooking up with some like minded neighbors for security can help, but at some point we have to decide when to high tail it to my BIL place on top of the mountain. Wait too long and you won’t get there.
