Wondering about current equivalents for Dlink 900 - 930 series IP wifi cameras

I still use a bunch of those old Dlink 930 cameras for certain things. They have 640 x 480 resolution, some have IR lights, all do rudimentary in-camera motion detection and email image sending. I think Dlink has replaced these with DCS-8000.

What I want (for a certain in-door application) is a wifi IP-cam that's as "dumb" as the Dlink 930's. I want to direct access to the camera's live video / audio, from a PC, absolutely no phone-app will be used. In-camera motion detection and email-sending. So my most important criteria is a camera that doesn't REQUIRE downloading a phone app to configure or access the camera, and any access network the camera's maker may want you to use is completely optional and can be de-activated. The Dlink 930's had ethernet ports that made initial IP setup easy, am I asking too much for a modern replacement to also have that?

As for price-point, I really don't want to may more than $50 for this, otherwise you're quickly getting into budget range for a 4k turret or bullet ethernet camera.

Any ideas?

Consider the Amcrest IP2M-841 (manufactured by Dahua); has Wi-Fi (2.4GHz) and Ethernet, is 1080p, has pan, tilt and digital zoom, has IR, is ONVIF-compliant and streams RTSP to VLC, Blue Iris, etc. no cloud setup or app required (only if P2P desired). Available in black or white, comes with ceiling / wall mount, takes a microSD card if desired, has mic and speaker (2 way audio), powered by 5VDC wall wart (has micro USB port for power). I have 2 that are over 5 years old and still goin.'

Stay away from the Amcrest "Link" and "Smart Home" lines. :cool:

I can't seem to get any "Amcrest" products to appear on Amazon.ca. When I try, all I get are Reolink cameras.

Strange - Amazon says "1-48 of 793 results for "Amcrest ProHD 1080P WiFi 2MP (1920TVL) Indoor Pan/Tilt Security Wireless IP Camera IP2M-841B (Black)" but it shows me no Amcrest cameras on the results page! Only Reolink cameras.

I get 32 results for "amcrest" and they're all Reolink!

You could buy directly from Amcrest for only $5 more but they charge for shipping outside the U.S. of A., not sure how much that is.

There's also Amcrest Direct on eBay, they sell used with 1 year warranty, shipping is free in U.S., maybe reasonable to Canada, IDK..:idk:

check ebay as well. they may have finally gotten forced into compliance by " The Man".
I think they changed their name too.

I had a few of those Dlink 930 series at my Brothers cabin. We used them to check on the place remotely with the App. All was good until my brother fell for thee olde " firmware update" available,
and the 931's ( I believe) were no longer detectable on the network, and resetting them seemed to do nothing.

The amcrest IP2M-841W is very simple ( no app required) pan and tilt mini ptz, ethernet or wifi, No cloud accounts or websites to sign up for a subscription.
I have installed about 4 of these in 3 diff locations. I Usually turn off Auto-track, in the Web Gui because it can get tricked/confused and get itself in an infinite tracking loop while trying to go back "home"
I wouldn't even flinch at buying a used one on ebay. they are getting a little harder to find new.

I'm getting so worried the supply will dry up i ordered two of the IP4M-104W PTZ's. 1 to put up at the brothers lake house,
and 1 spare for good measure, because a lit bit is good and too much is just right.
the 2 megapixel version probably has the better sensor size ratio over the 4 MP for darker scenes.
But I want to see how these behave.

The shipping is more than the camera! Too bad, I'd order a couple also if it wasn't.:confused:
 
shipping only went up 1 buck for the second cam. Same model on Amazon with free shipping was $69 with tax here it would be....-->
So I did the IPCAMTALK quick math of justify, rationalize....hmmm one is 75.86 and 2 are 72.o2 and figured i was getting 2 of them for the price of 1 Amazon of same SKU.

I see no new Amcrest cameras on ebay.ca, only a hodge-podge of DVR's and some used cameras. Some Amlink stuff, mostly DVR's. That NDAA-compliance thing is interesting, but I doubt we have anything similar in Canada.

Are Amcrest cameras banned from being sold in Canada or what? Nobody has them.

The Amcrest PZT cameras are a little large for what I want, and I don't need PZT anyways. The Dlink DCS930's were a good size, about the size of a deck of cards.

But at $28 I would have bought that Amcrest camera, but it says "does not ship to Canada" and the shipping would have been krazy anyways. What is the shipping cost inside the US for that?
