Tracking in every app that has NOTHING to do with the functions of the app. I guess it is ME that is for sale.

Get DuckDuckGo and turn on App Tracking Protection....

DuckDuckGo browser on my phone covers the whole device for free. Or does it? Who knows. It is amazing that websites must put you through cookie notifications and let you opt out--- but Apps on PHONES can basically do whatever they want and just shove it in the fine print of their use agreement that nobody reads. Teens especially have NO CLUE the amount of data that is taken from them.

Agreed, these are not phones they are computers, very Unsafe/Unprotected computers...actually tracking devices...

I would toss these things if it wasn't for family indirectly forcing us to have one so they can 24/7 contact/track us :) My Dad would power his down at night, lol

I use Brave browser and StartPage search...but nothing is 100% safe...

To my understanding DuckDuckGo uses Bing for searching...

True, nothing is safe and if DDG uses Bing, it might as well be considered a tracking device. Bill's not known to do things out of the goodness of his heart - ABMM (Always Be Making Money)

Speaking of Apps, why does a Flashlight App need access to my Contact List? So many clueless people look past these things. I have very few Apps on my phone, if an App wants too much access I abandon it and find one that doesn't...

I also have very few apps on my phone. When Statefarm changed their app to include permissions for camera, contacts, mic and other things that have nothing to with monitoring my driving, I decided not to continue. Especially, since it didn't play well with some of my apps I use for daily business. I had to remove it.

And they have no interest in fixing issues. Either you use it as is, or you opt out of the Drive Safe & Save program and pay more

Same here. When I'm at home, the cell phone is off. Sometimes when I turn it on I pick up week-old text messages and/or voice mails. Many can't understand why I won't leave the tracking device on 24x7.

Here too leave the phone off unless I am in the automobile. I also use Google voice and only give that number out as a cell phone. Only read texts when using Google mail.

Never been tethered to any of my cell phones for work or play.

I actually don't use the DDG app for browsing--- only for the AppTrackingProtection. ;) I try not to use my phone to browse ANYTHING if possible, and use a computer instead. Lately, Youtube was back to threatening your account if you had an adblocker running, so I switched and use Brave for youtube now. Bastards took uBlock from us and are dead set on killing anything good. I tried to explain to my daughter why TikTok as a phone app is horrible, and I got the blank "you're such a boomer" stare... I think humans are doomed.

I use DDG on my iPhone. But I do not see 'App Tracking Protection', just 'WEB Tracking Protection'. Where is it located?

"I turn my phone off" Give me a break! The phones are on all the time
and pinging it's little tail off. Lots of data may be gleaned by flying a fake
cel tower over one's head too.

Mine can sit "off" for a couple of weeks without the battery going down at all. I realize that's not proof that it's fully off. Just in case, one of my requirements is that any cell phone I have has an easily removable battery. This is getting harder and harder to find.

Well this does not look like it will work for us, we connect our phones to a (Home) Local VPN server:
