Ive used Chrome and Edge, Ive logged into my Hikvision cameras and seen the download msg where a picture should be. Ive closed the browser before installing, and Ive left it open. Why does this never let me see what the camera sees?

That is an ActiveX plug-in that is downloaded from the camera and is only for IE (Internet Explorer), not Chromium-based browsers lke Chrome or Edge.
Would you like to know how to run IE in Windows 10 or 11?

- Open Notepad:
- Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
- CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
- Save as OpenIE.vbs
- Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
- Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.
My thanks to TonyR, this appears to have resolved a problem I had with one of my Dahua cameras not connecting properly to the Dahua web service in Chrome following a firmware update I stupidly performed (posted in the Dahua day/night switch thread Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset ).
