which firmware tool to use on chinese DS-2CD2332I to solve language mismatch

I'm having language mismatch issues on my DS-2CD2332I camera when using IVMS4200 on my PC.
On my android phone, the IVMS4500 app is not giving any problems.
I bought this camera in the netherlands knowing it would probably be a chinese model.
But the price was nice and so I took the gamble because I already bought a DS-2CD2132IWS from the same guy without having any language issues.

I'm willing to take the chance to brick the camera while updating the firmware to solve the language problem.
But which firmware should I use knowing I probably only get one chance to try.

Is there a way to extract the firmware used on my working DS-2CD2132IWS ?
I mean, can I somehow make a backup of the firmware from this working camera to put it on the DS-2CD2332I ?

Thanks, but I think this is not what I need.

Mine allready is in english/multilanguage but just won't run in the IVMS 4200 client.

On my Qnap NAS it works flawlessly in the surveillance station app.

I think I'll have to do a MTD hack, but am afraid to brick it.

Will try to read and learn more about.
 
i believe the nick of a user here is CXB . CBX something like that, he has a hack and maybe that also works for the problem you are having.
he does ask some money for it though

CBX unfortunately no longer provides support in this forum. (Well by that name anyway)

That's why I made the mtd hack post and video to show others what to do(without cost).
Remember this is only good for Camera models upto and including 5.28 if you have a higher version then you must use the downgrader first.

Great effort to make a DIY guide to try and solve this problem.

They were originally shipped with v 5.2.8 build 141231, at least that's what on the label and in the menu.

What I don't understand is why they allready have a multilangual menu instead of only chinese.

The guy who sold them to me claims the DS-2CD2332I is a model exclusively for europe, and that the 2335 is the chinese variant.

He says the problem is the IVMS 4200 client software.

Maybe you know if you can tell by the label if it's a chinese or european model.

Is it possible to solve the language mismatch without losing the multilangual menu ?

It would be nice to keep the dutch menu, as it is my native language.
 
It does sound like IVMS may be the issue, that said 5.28 is full of bugs and is not recommended to keep but if your camera is working without reboots then leave alone.
There are quite a few different versions of ivms-4200 as well as a multilanguage version (v2.0) this one doesn't seem to have the mismatch issues and allows both regional cameras connected at the same time. I have a link somewhere, I'll post when I find it.
 
Finally got the time to test another IVMS version, unfortunately with no luck.

I'm now trying the MTD hack, but I'm stuck because I don't know how to keep the same checksum.

Date is 20150129502 but what should I change to keep te same checksum total.

Can't add a number to the '9' and I'm a total Hex noob so I can't find the wright way to change it.

Was a bit scary, but it worked !

The cam is now visible in IVMS4200.

But I've allready discovered that the cam goes offline randomly.

I presume the buggy 5.2.8 software is responsible for this.

Is this a known issue with the 5.2.8 software ?
 
Yes, that's why I recommend 5.25
 
You've done the hard bit, loading the firmware with Tftp easy bit.
 
Hmm...

I've set PC IP adress to 192.0.0.128 and ran TFTP updater but it won't go any further then initialized.

I've disconnected the camera, waited 30sec and then reconnected.

But it won't upgrade, it just starts up normally.
