I lost the waterproof connector that comes with Dahua cameras.
Where can I buy one that fits the female plug of a Dahua camera (or does it have an official name?)

I know you are all refreshing for the lottery results. so guessing there is more change for me to get an answer now .

Search for "rj45 connector cap" on ebay and you'll get a lot of hits. This type of connector exists in different diameters, but since the ebay hits specifically say they're for security or network cameras, I'd hope they are the correct size.

I have used a couple from this kit
BTW if you are doing new ethernet terminations, I absolutely love the new pull-through RJ-45 CAT6 plugs. SO much easier than the standard plugs. Strip a longer length of wire and once they are arranged in correct order, cut them on a 45 degree angle to more easily pass through the plug. With the wires pulled through it is simple to verify order and pull up all the slack to minimize untwisted length. RECOMMENDED

Is the waterproof connector supposed to come with the camera? I just bought a couple of Dahua Wizmind camera, they have the same pigtail but I couldn't see any sign of the stuff that goes on the cable, i.e. rubber ring connector cap and the rest.

My 54PRO came with the cap and seals in a small plastic bag placed inside the box.

So, found one of my older Dahua cameras did not have the waterproof connector, knowing me I hide it somewhere in time for Easter :) From reading some other Threads I hope I ordered the right ones. 17.5mm Only need one...

Will let everyone know when I get them if they are the right ones.

This is the CAM that is missing it:

Dahua IPC-T5442T-ZE (S1) 2.7-12mm Varifocal Test CAM

These 17.5mm DO work...they come in a lot of 10, I only needed one. If anyone needs one or two, DM/PM me, I will mail them to you...

@David L ....
A description of the product at the link you provided says "Finished RJ45 modular CAN NOT pass through the cover" and the image appears to confirm that.
But the image of what you received in your last post appears to have a hole with a much larger diameter to allow the RJ-45 male to pass thru.

Que pasa, amigo? :idk:

Yes, this one you can pass through...I saw that when I ordered and actually would prefer the smaller hole at the end but the description was wrong.

Still don't understand why someone would want a pass-through, plus not all premade ethernet cables will be able to pass-through. I grabbed a couple to test.

This can pass-through:

This CANNOT pass-through:

Now a days with these pass-through ethernet ends, pretty much anyone now can easily terminate a cable end.

But I don't like these type, to me the old type is a cleaner termination...no wires are exposed. Even AI agrees with me, haha

In my searching there are alot of 19mm connectors out there, not many 17.5mm which is what Dahua uses...

I guess some folks want to use pre-terminated (patch?) cables, many of which are stranded, possibly CCA and may or may not have jackets rated for their use, maybe not even flame tested. It's certainly their choice.

Regarding the RJ-45 connectors themselves, again to each their own but I prefer the closed end "old school" types....I've been using them so long I guess I don't appreciate the advertised convenience and speed of the pass-thru type. If I did use them I don't think corrosion of the exposed conductor ends would be a big issue as all mine get a big glob of dielectric grease squirted into the female jack then I insert the male in/out a couple of times (easy there, Arjun) and when out I observe the end of the male completely covered with the grease.

Regarding the snagproof boots on the end of (mostly) patch cables.....I slice the part hanging over the locking tab off with my VERY sharp pocket knife. They've always caused me more issues than they prevent, mainly when I'm leaning over behind a PC jammed against a wall or crammed under a desk and I can't get the #$@& depressed enough to get the locking tab to disengage from the female port with out causing unwanted damage.....I wind up pulling the whole $%^& PC out of its nest to get to it properly.

RARELY have I had a problem pulling a patch cable past other cables that I felt a snagproof boot would have been a valuable feature. As usual, YMMV.

I have ripped the tab off pulling cables through a big mess of cables many times. I just terminate a new end on them, well the patch cables I made myself. Some patch cables suck, period. Cheap stranded wires, cheap cable jacket, etc. I prefer my own made patch cables, they last longer, plus you can put snagproof boots on them if you want.

I have a bunch of these, most time I forget to use them though, lol
