What's the definition of "cut"? One of the options floated for SS is to raise the retirement age, which should have been built into the system from day one, based on statistical life spans. The reason we're at this crisis is that past administrations and congresses have refused to do anything to avert the crisis. Pretty simple math says that SOMETHING has to change or the whole pyramid scheme will collapse.
Medicare isn't as simple because it's so intertwined with the corrupt medical and insurance industries. If "cut" were to somehow reform how we're getting fleeced by big pharma, for instance, I'm all for it. I'm just afraid this can't happen because of the political control big pharma has. Congress, not just republicans, is just as owned by big pharma as they are by aipac. On an actuarial basis, Medicare is doomed, so something gets done or it too collapses.
