Perfect example of the "tough guy" syndrome masking ignorance.. (sounds familiar)
================================
Trump just casually admitted something dangerous in public:
When asked about Chinese cyberattacks on the United States, he didn’t condemn them, threaten consequences, or defend American victims.
Instead, he basically said:
“Everybody does it. We hack them too.”
That matters because presidents normally preserve strategic ambiguity around offensive cyber operations. You do not casually freelance public confirmation that the US conducts covert cyber activity against a nuclear superpower.
Worse, he blurred the line between:
• espionage
• cyber warfare
• retaliation
• and state deterrence
all in one off-the-cuff ramble designed to sound “tough.”
And notice the deeper implication:
China was accused of targeting US infrastructure, corporations, government systems, and intellectual property.
Trump’s response was not:
“That’s unacceptable.”
It was:
“We do stuff too.”
That is not moral clarity.
That is normalization.
Imagine if, during the Cold War, a president responded to Soviet espionage by shrugging and publicly bragging about secret operations on live television.
This is what happens when foreign policy gets filtered through ego instead of discipline.
